VM 94-96 (1/2023): The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a little more "gourmand" on the nose, cohering with time in the glass, loamy, almost peaty aromas emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-honed tannins. Lovely symmetry here, with a slight creaminess in texture towards the finish, where it feels very persistent. This is a lovely Charmes-Chambertin that should evolve wonderfully in bottle. Neal Martin.
JM 93-95 (11/2022): A fine red purple colour. A light reduction on the nose. There is quite powerful fruit for the vintage, allied to Cyprien’s refined style, slightly rougher tannins, whether an aspect of Gevrey or fractionally lighter maturity. Precision at the back, a fine intensity of fresh raspberry, and the requisite length. Drink from 2028-2034.
BH 90-92 (1/2023): A more deeply pitched combination offers up notes of plum, wild dark cherry and plenty of earth. The succulent and solidly powerful medium-bodied flavors are more muscular though not nearly as refined, all wrapped in a detailed, dusty and moderately austere finale that isn't quite as well-balanced. Drink 2033+. |

VM 93-95 (1/2023): The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru is more introspective at the moment, with fine intensity, the fruit is darker than the Aux Chezaux, with hints of graphite in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, one of the "juiciest" Moreys that I have encountered with candied orange peel and spicebox on the finish. Superb. Neal Martin.
JM 93-95 (11/2022): Quite a dense mid purple. The bouquet is beautiful, correctly ripe fruit with an admirable finesse. There is a swell of dark raspberry fruit then a refined mid palate with slightly fresher red fruit, a little hint of spice and quite a long finish. Scaled down from the beauty of the 2019 but sharing the same exceptional qualities. Drink from 2026-2033. |

WA 87-89 (1/2023): The 2021 Vosne-Romanée is more reserved than the open-knit Gevrey, exhibiting aromas of sweet plums, orange zest, petals and spices. Medium-bodied, lively and compact, with powdery tannins and bright acids, it will require more patience.
BH 89-91 (1/2023): A discreet dollop of wood sets off the spicy aromas of plum and purple fruit along with a floral hint. The delicious and vibrant flavors possess a velvety mid-palate yet manage to retain good delineation on the moderately austere and sneaky long finale. This lovely effort will need a few years.
VM 90-92 (1/2023): The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village was showing a bit of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, gentle grip, quite tensile with an insistent grip. I appreciate the balance and poise here. A countervailing bitter note lends tension from start to finish. Very fine. Neal Martin. |

WA 92-94 (1/2023): There are only five barrels of the 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts, representing around one-third of a normal crop for Cathiard. Offering up aromas of cherries, orange zest, raspberries, sweet spices and petals, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and structured, with powdery tannins and a serious, reserved profile. This is generally one of the slowest evolving wines in the cellar, and that's the case this year.
BH 92-95 (1/2023): A more restrained and decidedly cooler nose reluctantly offers up its beautifully layered combination of red and blue pinot fruit, jasmine tea, violet and a hint of sandalwood. The dense, powerful and serious big-bodied flavors possess superb persistence on the balanced, compact and built-to-age finale. This is terrific and a wine that should amply reward extended keeping.
VM 93-95 (1/2023): The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru takes time to really cohere on the nose, more backward than recent vintages, sultry even. This seems to lean more towards black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with strict tannins. There's backbone here, assertiveness, yet without the density or opulence that has come to define Cathiard's style, so very different. This will require some time in bottle but will have much to offer. Neal MArtin. |

WA 89-91 (1/2023): Aromas of red berries, orange zest and rose petals introduce the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes, a medium-bodied, fleshy and perfumed wine with melting tannins and a saline finish. It's an especially charming, fragrant rendition of this perennially reliable cuvée.

| BH 93-95 (4/2023): Much like the Clos Prieur, this is quite ripe in the context of the 2021 vintage with its combination of super-spicy red and dark berry fruit aromas that are cut with hints of earth, violet and lilac. The exceptionally rich and generously proportioned middleweight plus flavors exude evident minerality on the superbly long if youthfully austere finale that really fans out as it sits on the palate. Lovely and I particularly like the balance. |

BH 88-91 (1/2023): Here too there is enough reduction to push the fruit to the background. Otherwise, there is a slightly more volume to the attractively textured medium weight flavors that possess both lovely delineation and purity, all wrapped in a lingering and mildly austere finale. This energetic effort could use better depth but that should reasonably develop in time.
VM 90-92 (1/2023): The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village shows the stem addition slightly more conspicuously than the Chambolle-Village, white pepper and touches of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, lightly peppered black fruit with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate towards the finish. This gains complexity in the glass. Promising - quintessential Dujac. Neal Martin.

WA 92-93 (1/2023): The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out very well, exhibiting aromas of sweet cherries, berries, petals and spices, framed by toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's deep and muscular, with fine balance and a penetrating finish. This cuvée is now harvested in two picks, one week or so apart, instead of all in the same day.
BH 92-94 (4/2023): An unusually perfumed nose reflects notes of red currant, earth and a vague hint of exotic spice. In the same vein as the nose, there is an unusually suave texture to the round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the compact, firm and sneaky long finish. This possesses fine development potential. (Drink starting 2033)
VM 90-92 (1/2023): The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a rather stoic nose, with backward, light red berry fruit laced with decaying leaves that gradually unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, good density, dark berry fruit laced with orange rind and a pinch of white pepper. It misses the length and grace on the finish that a more benevolent season would bring. Fine. (Drink between 2025-2042). Neal Martin. |

| VM 92 (10/2025): The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru (a non-vineyard designated blend of Lafarge's 1er Cru vineyards) has a more floral bouquet with hints of potpourri infusing the red berry fruit. Fine delineation, though it does take a few minutes to cohere. The palate is certainly the most tertiary amongst its peers, with tightly wound red berries, quite sapid with satisfying weight and pleasingly measured on the finish. It needs a few months to find its groove but I can see the potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2042). Neal Martin. |

VM 91-93 (1/2023): The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Loups 1er Cru contains half Premier Crus (La Riotte and Clos Sorbé) and the other half from younger vines in Clos des Lambrays planted in 2000 that is likely to enter the Grant Vin next year. Including 50% whole bunches, it has an attractive dark berry fruit and subtle briny scents on the nose. Good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit with a very precise finish enhanced by the stem addition. This is a much more serious wine than the Village Cru. BH 90-92 (1/2023): A spicier array of plum, black pinot fruit and violet serves as a fresh and elegant introduction to the gorgeously textured, sappy and denser medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate volume, all wrapped in a clean, dry and herbal tea and mineral-inflected finale. Lovely and decidedly understated in style.
VM 91-93 (1/2023): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a very attractive, quite intellectual nose with lively red fruit, crushed rocks, orange blossom and subtle tobacco scents. This has wonderful delineation. The palate is smooth and cohesive, with orange rind and Seville orange marmalade infusing the red fruit. An underlying note of white pepper and cracked black pepper lends spiciness to the finish. What a lovely, sprightly ingenue of a Les Fuées. Neal Martin.
WA 92-94 (1/2023): Pure and precise, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées offers up aromas of sweet red berries, peonies, vine smoke, spices and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, seamless palate defined by cool fruit tones and melting tannins. Concluding with a long, mineral finish, this is a weightless, elegant Fuées from Mugnier. |

JM 93-95 (11/2022): 50% whole bunch. A medium deep purple with a lovely perfume, some darker fruit, actually quite sensual. A middling weight of deep sensual fruit then a much livelier finish, some citrus notes, with a finish which is entirely in red fruit. Very persistent indeed. The de Vogüé holding is on the red Bonnes Mares soil with some depth, but the wine is lively and with a white pepper finish. Drink from 2028-2035.
VM 92-94 (1/2023): The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, their only vineyard on the north side of Chambolle, includes around 50% whole bunches this year. The stems are discretely enmeshed, present, but allow the fruit and terroir to speak. I admire the freshness and joie-de-vivre here. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, vivid black cherry fruit laced with orange zest/blood orange towards its energetic finish. Bon vin. Neal Martin.
BH 91-94 (1/2023): A much more deeply pitched and more floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of blue berries, anise and a subtle touch of earth. I very much like the seductive mid-palate texture of the vibrant medium weight flavors that display excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This is perhaps on the lighter side in the context of what is typical for Bonnes Mares, but it possess excellent flavor authority and fine length Drink 2033+. |

JM 89-91 (11/2022): The fruit comes from a large block of Les Porlottes plus the two 1ers crus, Baudes and Fuées. A fine bright mid purple, noticeably reductive. Very intense red fruit, strict up the front. Strict and lively, all in pure fresh red fruit. Promising. All destemmed. Drink from 2026-2032.
BH 89-91 (1/2023): A perfumed and nicely spicy nose blends notes of red berries, plum and a touch of violet. The sleek, intense and well-detailed middleweight flavors exude a discreet bead of minerality on the refreshing, moderately austere and sufficiently firm finale to warrant up to a decade of keeping. This very pretty effort will likely be approachable after only 5 or so years of keeping. Drink 2029+.
VM 88-90 (1/2023): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes mainly from a large parcel in Porlettes with 10% from Les Fuées and Baudes. This was co-fermented instead of blended at the end of the barrel maturation; that was the modus operandi under François Millet. It is the only cuvée that does not include whole clusters. It has a clean and precise bouquet with dark cherries, hints of iodine and iris flower. The palate is tensile and light, well focused with an understated, open blackberry and raspberry finish, a touch of black pepper on the aftertaste. Fine. Neal Martin. |

The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh citrus like acidity, tensile and focused. This is a very classic, mineral-driven Musigny with surfeit of salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. So bright on the finish. Neal Martin.

Classy with just a touch of pepper. Less immediately compelling that some previous vintages, but it is growing steadily in the glass. There is a huge volume of red and black fruit intertwined with a fresh mineral streak running through the middle, supplying excellent length to complete the job. Splendid stuff! A firmer finish but there is plenty of time for that to resolve. Drink from 2030-2040.

JM 95-97 (11/2022): Three tanks were made, in order of picking, then assembled as there is no terroir logic to them, though this has changed for 2022. A fine bright and reasonably deep purple. Classy with just a touch of pepper. Less immediately compelling that some previous vintages, but it is growing steadily in the glass. There is a huge volume of red and black fruit intertwined with a fresh mineral streak running through the middle, supplying excellent length to complete the job. Splendid stuff! A firmer finish but there is plenty of time for that to resolve. Drink from 2030-2040.
BH 92-95 (1/2023): This is compositionally similar to the Chambolle "1er", but the brooding nose only grudgingly displays both notably better complexity and more floral nuances as well a background hint of kirsch. As is always the case, there is markedly more size, weight and density to the bigger-bodied and notably more powerful flavors that conclude in a very backward, compact and even more mineral-driven finish. This is still in need of additional élevage, but it should ultimately be quite impressive. Drink 2036+. |
