| VM 93 (11/2012): Light yellow. A complex, heady bouquet evokes white flowers, quince, ginger and white pepper, along with a strong mineral overtone. Taut and linear on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering vibrant, mineral-laced citrus flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. Finishes spicy and clean, with excellent focus and clinging floral notes. Josh Raynolds. |

VM 97 (10/2015): The 2006 Dom Perignon is a beautifully balanced, harmonious Dom Perignon that strikes an incredibly appealing stylistic middle ground. Rich, voluptuous and creamy, the 2006 shows off fabulous intensity in a style that brings together the ripeness of 2002 with the greater sense of verve and overall freshness that is such a signature of the 2004. Bass notes and a feeling of phenolic grip on the finish recall the 2003, as the Pinot Noir is particularly expressive today. After an irregular summer that saw elevated temperatures in July followed by cooler, damp conditions in August, more favorable weather returned in September, pushing maturation ahead and leading to a long, protracted harvest. The 2006 falls into the family of riper, more voluptuous Dom Perignons, but without veering into the level of opulence seen in vintages such as 2002. WS 95 (3/2016): A graceful, minerally version, featuring rich notes of smoke, mandarin orange peel and chalk that lead to subtle accents of crème de cassis, toasted almond, espresso and star anise on the fine, creamy mousse. Seamlessly knit, with citrusy acidity leaving a mouthwatering impression on the finish. Drink now through 2031. BH 94 (1/2016): A noticeably reduced nose still manages to reveal the underlying yeast characters. This is clearly very young and tight as the effervescence is fine but still quite compact and the flavors are equally backward before culminating in a powerful, focused and lingering finish. This is a vintage of Dom that is indisputably built-to-age and it's going to need plenty of it as it's not really all that pleasurable at the moment. This isn't to say no pleasure but the 2006 reminds me a bit of the 1988 at the same juncture and for those among you who remember that great wine in its youth, you'll know that it was almost 20 years before it fully blossomed. I suspect that the 2006 is going to follow a similar path in its evolution which is to say that plenty of patience is going to be required before it's fully ready. Drink 2021+. JS 93 (10/2015): This is a delicious wine that follows through to the superb 2005 Dom Perignon, showing lemon curd, peach and pie crust aromas. It's full bodied with lots of ripe fruit character and large, soft textured bubbles. An opened palate. It remains bright and fresh. Layered and delicious now. A DP to drink now while you are waiting on your more structured 2005 and 2002. |

VM 96+ (7/2018): The 2006 Dom Perignon Rose is tightly-wound and austere, with notable aromatic presence and tons of raw intensity that just needs time to fully come together. Interestingly, the Rose is very different in style and feel than the Blanc. Time in the glass coaxes an exotic melange of black cherry, cranberry, mint and crushed rocks, but ultimately, the 2006 is no mood to show all of its cards. Antonio Galloni. WA 95 (3/2019): The 2006 Dom Perignon Rose is showing well, offering up an expressive bouquet of bitter orange, red berries, apple and a delicate hint of dried flowers and herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and broad, with a fine mousse, ripe acids and chalky phenolic structure, especially on the finish, which testifies to the fully 20% of still red wine that was included in the blend. This is a vinous, gastronomic rose that numbers among the decided successes of the 2006 vintage. |

| |
| VM 91 (5/2022): The 2006 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Nicole VV Grand Cru, from Les Chétillons, is a rich, overt wine. Hints of almond, dried flowers, spice and chamomile are signs of a Champagne that has reached a plateau in its development. Soft contours add to that impression. The 2006 is a fine choice for readers looking for a mature Champagne that offers a good deal of aromatic and flavor complexity. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2022. (Drink between 2022-2030). Antonio Galloni. |

VM 96 (8/2016): The 2006 Clos des Goisses is stellar, but it is also going to need quite a bit of time to come into its own. Powerful and ample in the best of the Goisses style, the 2006 hits the palate with serious intensity. Orchard fruits, lemon oil, white flowers and almonds are some of the many notes that open up in the glass, but, as is often the case with young Goisses, it is the wine's gravitas that is front and center. Even with all of its overtness, though, the 2006 retains striking, crystalline purity. I imagine the 2006 will reward Champagne lovers with many decades of truly exceptional drinking. The only thing the 2006 needs is time. The question is: How much? WS 94 (12/2015): Floral and ripe apricot notes ride the creamy bead of this elegant Champagne, accented by hints of black currant, pastry and candied kumquat. Bright and lively, with a hint of smoky mineral lingering on the finish. Drink now through 2026. 1,500 cases made. |

WS 93 (12/2015): A lively rose Champagne, featuring a smoky underpinning, with flavors of dried white cherry and glazed apricot and rich hints of ground coffee, almond and candied kumquat. Firm and creamy, with a well-spiced finish. Drink now through 2029. 420 cases made. BH 91 (1/2013): A distinctly yeasty nose of red cherry, raspberry and red currant gives way to foamy flavors as the supporting effervescence is quite prominent. The delicious and very round flavors are exceptionally vinous, indeed this is much like drinking wine. There is a lovely intensity to the exceptionally dry, clean and finely detailed finish. Note that this could be drunk now with pleasure or held for further development as your taste preferences dictate. Drink now+. VM 91 (11/2015): The 2006 Brut Rose Cuvee 1522 Premier Cru comes across as powerful, burly and a bit rough around the edges. Blood orange, cherry pit, smoke and game notes abound. Vinous and deep, the 2006 offers good intensity, but less in the way of true finesse. It will be interesting to see if that develops with more time in bottle. Antonio Galloni. |

| BH 92 (10/2019): (the varietals are a "proprietary secret" with fruit from old vines in grand cru vineyards.) I had originally reviewed this in 2017 and it showed better than this last bottle that seemed to be going through a bit of an awkward stage. A whiff of petrol can be found on the ripe aromas of baked apple, brioche and soft floral scents. The exceptionally rich yet powerful flavors possess an almost creamy mid-palate mouth feel despite the presence of a firm supporting effervescence that also shapes the sappy but only moderately complex and somewhat compact finale. I would suggest holding it for another 5-ish years as my sense is that even more complexity is almost certain to develop and this mildly awkward phase will likely have passed. Drink 2024+. |

VM 97 (5/2014): Broad, ample and resonant on the palate, the 2006 Cristal dazzles with its pure richness and volume. Readers need to give the 2006 another 4-5 years in bottle, perhaps longer, as the wine appears to be shutting down a bit. Tasted next to the 2002, today the 2006 is a bit less opulent but just as intense, layered and deep. This is a fabulous showing. 10,000 cases imported in the US. WS 95 (11/2013): This elegant version shows beautiful texture and a sense of finesse despite the underlying power of vibrant acidity and smoky minerality. The palate offers a finely layered mesh of blackberry, poached pear, almond pastry, lemon zest and pickled ginger flavors. Drink now through 2028. 20,000 cases imported. VM 95 (12/2013): (Made from 55% pinot noir and 45% chardonnay; 20% of the wine was aged in oak; no malo, as usual): Light, bright gold. Heady mineral- and smoke-accented citrus and orchard fruit aromas, with notes of fig, toasted nuts and sweet butter adding complexity and depth. Powerful, palate-staining poached pear and orange flavors are given spine by a smoky mineral quality, picking up floral and spicecake notes with air. Rich but lively and precise, finishing with superb clarity, power and spicy persistence. Drinking this Champagne now would be a shame given this cuvee's track record for aging. JS 94 (12/2013): This is very approachable with dried mangoes and lemons plus hints of yeast. Full body, dried friut and a pretty, tangy finish. Balanced and delicious. Drink now. WA 93 (11/2013): Roederer’s 2006 Brut Cristal is striking in its sense of lift and delicacy, serving as one of many instances where those bringing preconceptions of this vintage’s warmth and ripeness of fruit to their experience may be pleasantly surprised. A nose of fresh apple, fennel and cucumber sets up associations with a slaw or salad that are crisply, lusciously and refreshingly redeemed on the palate. A garland of honeysuckle and heliotrope complements subtle suggestions of raw almond and vanilla, while alkaline and iodine notes as well as cooling but pungent green herbal notes add to the soothing yet stimulating finish. This exceptionally poised, refined, and buoyant performance is apt to gain depth with a few years’ bottle age. |

| VM 98 (5/2015): One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2006 Cristal Rose is simply stunning. A vertical, towering wine, the 2006 Cristal Rose is a thrill a minute, with a compelling interplay of aromatics and exquisitely layered fruit, all supported by a real feeling of phenolic intensity. While the 2007 is seductive, the 2006 is virile and imposing, with the statuesque lift of a Giacometti sculpture. All the elements meld together in a complete, alluring Champagne that will continue to drink beautifully for many decades. In 2006, the Pinot Noir was already being farmed biodynamically, while the Chardonnay was still under conversion. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 97+ (7/2015): The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it. Comtes de Champagne remains the single best value (in relative terms) in tête de cuvee Champagne. I suggest buying a case and following it over the next 20-30 years, which is exactly what I intend to do. There is little doubt the 2006 Comtes de Champagne is a magical Champagne in the making. Antonio Galloni. |

WS 94 (12/2015): Bright and graceful, this seamlessly knits a subtle streak of smoke-tinged minerality with flavors of almond financier, poached pear, candied kumquat and crème de cassis, focused by vibrant acidity and a refined, creamy mousse. Disgorged January 2014. Drink now through 2030. JS 94 (10/2016): The Grande Dame is looking bright, gently complex and a little spicy in 2006 where the grapefruit citrus is a strong influence on the nose, showing sweet florals, a little honeyed nougat and almond paste. The palate's bright and crisp and really has an air of fleshy depth and refinement. There's also a great warm, toasty finish that displays grilled hazelnuts. Great now through to to 2020 and beyond. WA 94 (6/2016): The prestigious 2006 La Grande Dame is made from 47% Chardonnay and 53% Pinot Noir, and assembles the fruit of eight grand cru villages. Very intense and complex on the nose, this is a full-bodied, round, rich and mouth-filling, but also refined prestige cuvee; it reveals a fascinating purity, precision and freshness. The finish is long and complex, and shows a spicy minerality. There are coffee beans, bread and toast aromas in the aftertaste. This comes highly recommended. |

| VM 95 (7/2017): The 2006 Coeur de Cuvée is just starting to enter the early part of its plateau of maturity. Lemon confit, apricot, spice and lightly toasted notes give the wine much of its aromatic and flavor complexity. The 2006 was quite powerful at the outset, but over time it has become much more finessed and nuanced. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so. This is a terrific showing.
