2019 Maison Henri Boillot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
Vintage: 2019
Region: Burgundy Red
Color/Type: Red
Size: 750 ML
Tasting Notes:
BH 93 (4/2021): (from a ~.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A brooding and restrained nose reluctantly offers up its aromas of red and dark currant, warm earth and a menthol hint. There is outstanding volume and mid-palate density to the reasonably refined if not exactly elegant flavors that culminate in the hallmark austerity of a classic Clos de Vougeot. Patience not only a virtue but essential with this wine. Drink 2034+.

BH 87 (4/2024): (from vineyards in Santenay, Marsannay and the lower portions of Volnay.) An unusually elegant nose for the genre features perfumed aromas of plum, violet and cool cherry. There is both a lovely texture and energy to the delicious middleweight flavors that deliver fine length on the lingering finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. Serve it cool though and you won't notice. Drink 2025+. Outstanding! VM 88-90 (1/2024): The 2022 Bourgogne is bursting with red purplish fruit, spice, rose petal and lavender. This mid-weight, fruity Bourgogne is an absolute delight. Enjoy it over the next few years. It’s a great introduction to this range. Neal Martin. |

BH 87 (4/2025): (from vineyards in Santenay, Marsannay and the lower portions of Volnay). This is unusually pretty for a Bourgogne with its array of ripe plum and violet scents. There is fine volume to the utterly delicious and solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that display impressive length on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finale where the only nit is a touch of warmth. This is a quality Bourgogne and worth a look, especially for value. Drink 2026+. JM 86-88 (10/2024): The Bourgogne includes fruit from Pernand and Santenay and Marsannay. Rich deep purple, very ripe cherry, not cooked, but in the opulent style. Slightly firm fruit behind, with a certain glossiness before the crunchy finish. Drink from 2026-2028. |

BH 92 (4/2012): (from a less than .34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A very ripe but not surmature nose of cassis, earth and a hint of the sauvage gives way to exceptionally rich, round and velvety-textured flavors that display impressive size, weight and power, all wrapped in a long and overtly austere finish. Though quite ripe this is built along the lines of a classic example of Clos de Vougeot. Drink 2022+. WA 92-94 (2/2012): The 2010 Clos Vougeot is impressive. Underlying veins of minerality support focused fruit in this decidedly racy, full-bodied Clos Vougeot. Power, richness and sheer energy flow as the wine opens up in the glass. Sweet, floral notes flesh out on the expressive, focused finish. The 80% new oak is very deftly balanced. This is a dazzling wine from Henri Boillot. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035. VM 91-94 (2/2012): Deep ruby-red. Very closed nose hints at violet, bitter chocolate and licorice; showing the cabernet side of this grand cru today. Then surprisingly suave in texture, with strong minerality and harmonious acidity perking up the flavors of black fruits and menthol. Finishes long and powerful, with firm, granular tannins and lingering saline and licorice nuances." |

BH 93 (4/2016): (from a <.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis.) A ripe but restrained nose features notes of both red and dark berry fruit, earth, humus, smoke and exotic tea scents along with a background hint of oak toast. There is impressive volume to the well-muscled and broad-shouldered flavors that possess plenty of underlying tension, all wrapped in a complex, rustic and lingering finish that is less austere than usual. This beauty will require at least a decade to be at its best. Drink 2024+. VM 90-93 (1/2016): (aged in 75% new oak, but Boillot used 350-liter barrels to get more freshness): Healthy dark red. Reticent aromas of black cherry, chocolate, menthol and herbs are less fruity today than the Volnays here. Large-scaled, round and sweet, showing more complex, soil-driven salinity than easy fruit in the early going. Powerful material here. Finishes saline, ripely tannic and long. This wine may need a solid eight years in the cellar to approach maturity. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2017): (100% vendange entier; the Boillots work these vines in Grand Maupertuis themselves): Saturated deep red. Aromas of black cherry, licorice and rose petal communicate striking fruity lift for young Clos Vougeot. Very rich, sappy and deep, but but with no sign of overripeness and markedly different in style from the Côte de Beaune samples that preceded it in my tasting, partly due to its whole-cluster treatment. This distinctly fine-grained Clos Vougeot has clearly benefited from the weather conditions of 2015. Stephen Tanzer. |

| VM 92-95 (1/2018): (there was a lot of frost here, but the Boillots' two parcels of very old vines in Grand Maupertui suffered less than vines at the bottom of the clos; 25 hectoliters per hectare produced; 75% new oak): Good dark red; more deeply colored than Boillot's estate wines from the Côte de Beaune. Lovely perfumed lift to the aromas of red cherry, licorice, spices and flowers. Then fat and thick in the mouth, with dark berry and black cherry flavors energized by salty minerality. Lovely inner-palate tension and flavor complexity here. The tannins are firm but not dusty or dry on the long, rising finish. Boillot does a fermentation integrale for most of his Côte de Nuits wines, vinifying them in barrels, then pressing them and returning them to barrel. This technique makes for gentler extraction and results in an earlier integration of fruit and oak elements, typically yielding rounder, more voluminous wines with silkier tannins but also more structure without dryness. Stephen Tanzer. |

WA 94 (1/2020): The 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is showing very well, soaring from the glass with aromas of wild berries, rose petals, violets, orange rind and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, with lively acids and a powdery but elegantly refined chassis of structuring tannins, concluding with a long and resonant finish. BH 92 (4/2020): ( from a <.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis.) This plays right on the edge of volatile acidity with its nose of poached plum, black raspberry and warm earth. The middle weight flavors are not especially dense but do possess a highly attractive mouthfeel while displaying good power on the bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. This moderately firm effort is somewhat awkward at present, but I suspect that it will recover with age. Drink 2033+. |

| BH 92 (4/2023): A moderately deeply pitched nose combines notes of black cherry and earth with those of violet and plum. There is fine mid-palate volume to the fleshy and palate coating flavors that possess focused power on the lingering finish that is neither especially austere nor robust in 2021. With that said, this will still be more than capable of repaying 12 to 15 years of keeping. |

BH 91 (4/2023): (from a ~.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A brooding and distinctly earthy nose is comprised mostly by notes of plum and dark currant. The sleek and precise, but not especially dense, flavors do possess a lovely sense of energy and precise that also characterizes the balanced and youthfully austere finale that is sufficiently firm to assure at least a decade of development potential. JM 91-94 (10/2024): A deep ruby purple. Powerful dense red fruit without detail as yet. Solid, concentrated, four-square, with no shortage of fruit, and a few tannins completing the muscular structure. Perhaps not quite as persistent as the best in the cellar. Drink from 2031-2037. |

BH 94 (4/2013): (near the very top of the vineyard and atypically, the rows are planted North-South). Somewhat counterintuitively this possesses riper fruit with distinct sauvage notes to the humus and mineral-inflected, brooding and very cool wild dark berry fruit aromas. There is excellent power to the driving and highly energetic, stony and robust flavors that display impressive mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in an austere, explosive and strikingly long finish. This is a serious wine but then again, isn’t Chambertin virtually always serious in its youth? Drink 2026+. VM 92-95 (2/2013): Good dark red. Very pure but reticent aromas of dark berries, mocha and sandalwood; smells creamy. Then lush and seamless in the mouth, but with great energy to the flavors of black cherry clafouti, dark chocolate, licorice and pepper. The explosive, slowly mounting finish features substantial fine-grained tannins and black fruit and pepper elements complicated by saline minerality. |

| BH 91 (4/2021): (near the very top of the vineyard and atypically, the rows are planted North-South). Like the Clos de Bèze, here too there is a whiff of volatile acidity though in this case it is decidedly more subtle though still perceptible on the more restrained and more floral cool red currant scents. The equally restrained and transparent large-scaled flavors brim with both dry extract and minerality before concluding in a youthfully austere and markedly firm finale. I would make the same observation here as I did with the Bèze, which is to say it’s impossible to predict how VA will affect any given person’s perception of a wine but in this case, I was less bothered by it than with the Clos de Bèze. BH 94 (4/2025): (near the tree line at the very top of the vineyard and atypically, the rows are planted in a North-South orientation). This is also beautifully layered and while not quite as spicy, it’s close though the fruit profile is derived more from plum and dark currant. The super-sleek and more mineral-driven flavors possess medium density and excellent underlying tension that gives the firm and youthfully austere finish real punch. Not surprisingly given that this is Chambertin, extended patience will be necessary. Drink 2035+. JM 95-97 (10/2024): More purple and less ruby compared to Beze. A greater depth of fruit, more layers to it. I loved the vigour of the Clos de Bèze but this has more of a natural majesty. Profound, with a silky texture on top of a hard rock Chambertin. Drink from 2032-2045. |

| BH 90 (4/2021): (from a parcel purchased in 2007 and replanted; 2018 was the first vintage where this has been declared under its own name as it was previously blended). A cool, pure if very restrained nose features a pretty mix of red and dark currant and earth nuances that are trimmed in just enough menthol and wood toast to mention. There is again very fine volume to the sappy, rich and powerful medium-bodied flavors that, much like the Fremiets, remain relatively refined before culminating in a dusty, saline and beautifully persistent finish. This is lovely and it’s not so structured that it couldn’t be approached after only 5 or so years. Drink 2027+. |

BH 92 (4/2015): ( from equally sized parcels in both Rugiens Hauts and Bas that measure <1 ha.) A cool, airy and exceptionally pretty nose demonstrates notes of red cherry and raspberry, floral, anise and soft earth scents. There is more volume but interestingly also more precision to the broad-shouldered and voluminous flavors that exhibit plenty of minerality on the complex, long and powerful finish. The level of dry extract is impressive and while the balance isn't perfect this should still make for lovely drinking in time. Drik 2023+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! VM 91-93 (1/2015): (a combination of Haut and Bas, the top of the cru providing fresher fruit and the bottom riper, according to Guillaume Boillot; aged in 50% new oak): Good bright red. ure but reticent aromas of redcurrant, rust and minerals; conveys a distinct iron character. Then creamy and seamless in the mid-palate but with a decidedly elegant delicacy. Finishes savory and long, with a serious spine of peppery tannins calling for patience. WA 89-91 (12/2014): The 2013 Pommard 1er Cru les Rugiens, which comes from two parcels located in Rugiens Haut and Rugiens Bas, has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet that is harmonious and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, good acidity here, with a fresh and almost citric finish. Nicely structured with fine tannins, this carries the 50% new oak well and should give 10-15 years of pleasure. |

Brooding aromas of dark fruits and menthol. Chalky and penetrating but youthfully tight, conveying a stronger impression of medicinal reserve than the Volnay Les Caillerets. A distinctly masculine, classic Pommard, juicy but imploded in the early going. The mounting finish features firm, mouth-saturating tannins, hints of spices and white pepper, and savory soil suggestions. The Boillots' holding is in Rugiens-Haut, on white soil and sand with relatively little iron content. Stephen Tanzer. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2018): (in order to allow the seeds to ripen, Boillot waited until five days after he picked his Volnays to harvest this fruit on September 28, with 12.8% potential alcohol; 50% new oak): Moderately saturated bright medium red. |

| BH 93 (4/2019): : (from equally sized parcels in both Rugiens Hauts and Bas that measure @1 ha). A superfresh if restrained nose speaks of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet and black cherry. The highly energetic and intensely mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors are at once tautly muscular and precise while the youthfully austere finish is shaped by quite fine-grained tannins. Like all examples of Rugiens worth of their name, this is built-to-age and will need it. Drink 2029+. |

WA 93+ (1/2020): The 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens is the last time Boillot will produce this appellation, made from purchased grapes. Offering up aromas of dark berries, cassis, baking chocolate, candied peel and licorice, the wine is medium to full-bodied, muscular and chalky, with fine depth at the core, succulent acids and a long finish. BH 93 (4/2020): ( from equally sized parcels in both Rugiens Hauts and Bas that measure <1 ha.) A brooding and quite reserved nose grudgingly offers up pretty aromas of red and black cherry liqueur-like aromas that are cut with both spice and floral influences. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the intense and well-detailed larger-scaled flavors that brim with minerality on the powerful, serious and built-to-age finale. This too is well-worth searching out provided that you have the patience to let it slumber for at least 8 to 10 years first. Drink 2033+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

VM 90 (3/2015): Bright, dark red. Sweet red berries, nutty oak and subtle soil tones on the nose. Fat, sweet and spicy, showing good fullness for village wine. Savory, serious Volnay with good vinosity and density and a saline complexity. Finishes with broad, building, ripe tannins and good savory persistence. Antonio Galloni. BH 88 (4/2014): (Entirely from 5 different 1ers). An earthy and distinctly ripe nose of cassis, plum and soft floral aromas gives way to equally earthy middle weight flavors where once again the supporting tannins are relatively fine-grained. The finale is firm without being rustic though there is enough youthful austerity to notice. This should reward mid-term cellaring. Drink 2018+. |

BH 90 (4/2024): ( from the 1er Clos de la Rougeotte.) This is also perfumed and fresh with its nose of crushed red berries, tea and floral wisps. There is a more sophisticated texture to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere, balanced and moderately firm finale. This offers excellent quality for its level. Drink 2029+. Outstanding! VM 91-93 (1/2024): The 2022 Volnay, all from 1er Cru Clos de lo Rougeotte, is a serious wine. Dark, rich and sensual, the 2022 is terrific. Silky, plush contours wrap around the finish. This supple, inviting Volnay is a huge overachiever. Then again, it is a 1er Cru in all but name. BH 89 (4/2025): (from the 1er Clos de la Rougeotte). This is also aromatically quite pretty with a more elegant nose of black cherry, crushed anise and a whiff of rose petal. There is fine punch to the sleeker and more finely textured medium weight flavors that exude a lovely minerality on the sneaky long finale. A quality Volnay villages. Drink 2028+. JM 88-91 (10/2024): A rich and saturated crimson purple. Here there is more velvet in the texture. Still a certain firmness, more red berries than darker fruit, fills the palate and persists. BH 93 (4/2012): Aromatically speaking, this is not all that dissimilar from the Champans except that it's more restrained and adds a note of black cherry as well. There is excellent mid-palate concentration to the impressively complex and mouth coating flavors that brim with dry extract that confers a velvety texture onto the lingering finish. The underlying tannins are notably firm but well-integrated but note that this too will need ample cellar time to arrive at its peak. Drink 2022+. Outstanding! VM 93-95 (2/2012): Bright ruby-red. Knockout nose combines dark fruits, minerals, bitter chocolate and underbrush. Offers superb density and thickness without excess weight, with the wine's substantial baby fat given shape by building minerality. Intense black fruit flavors stain the palate on the very long, strong finish, which features noble, fine-grained tannins. WA 91-93 (2/2012): The 2010 Volnay Les Santenots is the most refined and impeccable of these 2010 Volnays from Henri Boillot. Ripe, silky tannins buffer the fruit in this sumptuous, impeccably refined Volnay. Floral notes wrap around the deep, persistent finish. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. |

This intense, powerful Volnay need serious time in the cellar. A generous, beautifully resonant finish rounds things off. Antonio Galloni. |

BH 91 (4/2016): A deft touch of wood sets off the ripe, pure and elegant aromas of spice and floral-inflected dark pinot fruit and plum scents. There is excellent delineation and energy to the tension-filled, rich and complex medium-bodied flavors that possess a lush, even opulent mouth feel yet the finish is borderline robust. In sum this is a Santenots of contrasts but I like the interplay of different elements. Drink 2021+. VM 89-92 (1/2016): Bright, dark red. Subtly complex dark red fruits, flowers and chocolate on the nose. Plush and silky on the palate, possessing good buffering material to support the fairly strong tannins. This seamless, vinous wine shows no easy sweetness but boasts excellent sappy vinosity. Incidentally, the Boillots recently sold their vines in Savigny-lès-Beaune and Beaune in order to buy some Puligny-Montrachet. |

WA 94-96 (8/2012): The 2011 Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet is built on a fabric of exquisite textural finesse and elegance. The Bienvenues is a bit less overt in its bouquet than the Criots, but richer, deeper and more seamless in its fruit. Here, too, it is the wine’s sheer pedigree that stands out most. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. BH 94 (6/2013): This is also notably ripe but the aromas do not run to the exotic as the honeysuckle, apricot, white peach and subtle spice notes are entirely classic. There is an appealing succulence to the delicious, intense and strikingly fine medium-bodied flavors and while there is certainly a sense of focused power present on the long, clean and refined finish, this is essentially a Bienvenues of finesse. Drink 2021+. Don't miss! VM 92-95 (9/2012): Bright yellow. Vibrant nose combines smoke, honey and sexy minerality. More concentrated and sweet than the Criots but with the verve--not to mention the saline density--of Boillot's Pucelles. Lovely creamy old-viney texture and length. The minerally finish leaves the taste buds quivering. |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (from Ladoix, Pernand and Aloxe). Subtle notes of mineral reduction and wood toast can be found on the aromas of green apple, clove and white flowers. The wonderfully intense, focused and muscular large-scaled flavors brim with both dry extract and an almost aggressively minerality on the markedly dry but not really austere finale. Like the Chevalier and Montrachet, this beauty of a Corton-Charlemagne is presently very tightly wound and is going to need extended patience to arrive at its peak. BH 96 (6/2024): (from Aloxe.) A markedly floral-suffused nose somewhat grudgingly reveals its array of exuberantly fresh and spicy Granny Smith apple, acacia blossom, oyster shell and iodine. While there is certainly good richness to the succulent and seductive broad-shouldered flavors, the mouthfeel is really quite sleek with both good detail and power to the taut, serious and built-to-age finale that is given a bit of lift from the presence of bitter citrus rind. This is almost painfully intense and youthfully austere effort could use better depth but that should present no particular problem if it's given a chance to develop. This too is first-rate. Drink 2034+. Don't miss! VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend of fruit from Aloxe-Corton (75%) and Pernand-Vergelesses (25%), a combination that works well in giving the wine balance. There's quite a bit of phenolic intensity and youthful austerity here. Herbs, crushed rocks, graphite, mint and citrus confit build nicely. I very much admire the vibrancy here, even if the 2022 remains a bit unyielding today. Neal Martin. |

BH 97 (6/2026): (in most years, the blend is 80% from Aloxe and the remainder from Pernand). There is enough wood to notice on the cool and airy aromas of white peach, Granny Smith apple and mineral reduction. The middle weight plus flavors are borderline painfully intense while seemingly built on a base of stone as the mouthfeel is like rolling tiny rocks around the palate on the massively long, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This overtly powerful and strikingly good bone-dry effort is markedly compact and a wine that I would recommend buying only if you have the patience to allow it at least a decade in a cool cellar. This could well be the Corton-Charlemagne of the vintage. Drink 2036+. JM 93-95 (10/2025): Fresh mid lemon. A fine concentration of fresh stony soil, with a little barrel toast. Much more linear of course, though with adequate flesh on the bones. Definite intensity. Drink from 2030-2036. |

WA 94-96 (8/2012): Henri Boillot’s 2011 Criots-Batard-Montrachet has all the grace of a ballerina. Intensely sweet, honeyed layers of perfumed fruit flow effortlessly across the palate. The Criots boasts gorgeous inner richness and fragrance, but no sense of heaviness at all. This is a dazzling effort. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. BH 93 (6/2013): This is notably riper than the Caillerets with overtly exotic dried yellow fruit, spice and floral aromas. There is Outstanding richness to the powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that possess a distinctly muscular mouth feel before culminating in an opulent, clean and very dry finish. This retains a fine sense of balance and while there is certainly fine complexity, it isn't at the same level as displayed by the other grands crus in the range. Drink 2019+. VM 91-93 (9/2012): Bright yellow-green. Aromas of pink grapefruit, herbs and peppery spices. Tightly wound and on the lean side, with good punch to the citrus flavors but distinctly lighter than the preceding premier crus from Puligny-Montrachet. Juicy for the vintage but a tad dry on the end. I don't find grand cru weight here. |

| VM 90-93 (9/2015): (these south-facing vines were picked first, on September 10): Pale, bright yellow. Musky ripe peach and noble herbs on the nose; this wine is actually the highest in volatile acidity of the range, but still a fairly low 0.4 grams per liter. Fat, sweet and large-scaled but without the precision of the Clos de la Mouchère. Finishes salty and a touch dry. BH 93 (6/2020): Once again there is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit to the white peach, spiced tea and dried yellow fruit aromas where a background hint of viognier creeps in. The caressing and unusually sleek medium-bodied flavors possess fine volume and focused power on the caressing and refreshingly saline-inflected finish. This is particularly good in the context of a very hot and dry vintage which is not usually especially propitious for Criots. Drink 2028+. WA 94 (1/2020): Aromas of orange oil, honeycomb, ripe pears, wheat toast and paraffin wax introduce the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and textural wine that's fleshy and enveloping but underpinned by an impressively chalky structure that brings unusual tension and grip to this inherently generous terroir. |

VM 95-98 (9/2018): Pale yellow. Wonderfully delicate and discreet on the nose, hinting at lemon drop and minerals; Boillot says he's normally the first to harvest in Montrachet and this wine certainly conveys an early-picked aspect. Pure and silky on the palate and thicker than the Chevalier-Montrachet, but with terrific inner-mouth cut. Displays impeccable balance on the very suave, slowly rising finish. Can a wine be both understated and explosive? "Two thousand seventeen is a real fruit year," says Boillot, and in fact this citrussy, floral Montrachet is not yet showing the site's iodiney minerality. But that will come. Stephen Tanzer. WA 93-96 (1/2019): The 2017 Montrachet Grand Cru is among the most reserved wines in the cellar, unfurling in the glass with a reticent bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and light reduction that wasn't revealing its full range when I tasted it. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with broad shoulders and evident power, concluding with a stony finish, but the full extent of its quality is hard to read. |

| BH 97 (6/2021): (from Puligny fruit). Interestingly, here the nose resembles a grand cru Chablis with its oyster shell, iodine, quinine, lemon-lime and bee’s wax-scented nose. There is outstanding volume and concentration to the overtly powerful and muscular flavors that are supported by a citrus-tinged and markedly firm acid spine that also shapes the cuts-like-a-knife finale. As the length of my initial projected drinking window suggests, it would be pointless to open this beauty before it has at least a decade of aging as it should easily repay two of them. In sum, this is quite simply stunningly good. Drink 2039+. |

BH 98 (6/2026): (from Puligny fruit) A beautifully layered but highly restrained nose only grudgingly offers up its aromas of just sliced pear, apple, crushed fennel, wood, lemon and floral top notes. The tautly muscular and almost painfully intense large-scaled flavors are dense though they're not monsters of concentration before delivering simply unbelievable length on the compact, powerful and palate staining finish that just goes on and on. Young Montrachet is always deceptive, good ones anyway, because they reveal so little and this example is no different. With that said, the incredible upside potential in this is manifest. If you can find it, buy it, provided at least you're committed to at least a decade of keeping. Drink 2036+. Don't miss! JM 95-97 (10/2025): 1 x 350-litre new barrel. Glowing mid yellow. An amazing intensity for sure, in a riper register than the Bâtard. Starts with a sense of concentration which then builds into majesty. Stands outside even the beautiful wines earlier in the range. VM 90-92 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault is a rich, opulent white. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and crushed rocks are all amplified. Clean mineral notes extend the finish while also providing a counterpoint to all the textural richness. The Meursault is a blend of parcels (including En Luraule, Petits Charrons, Casse-Têtes, Les Pelles), all estate, high up on the slope. The 25% new oak is nicely judged. Neal Martin. |

| JM 91-94 (10/2024): All domaine. En Luraules, Chevalières, Casse Têtes, Petits Charrons. Mid lemon yellow, not as immediately powerful as En Remilly, but more refined and then fleshes out on the second half of the plate, where it really impresses. A back loaded Meursault as it should be, yet with adequate minerals too. Very, very persistent. 20% new wood. Drink from 2028-2032. |

BH 90 (6/2026): (this is now from 100% domaine fruit in the vineyards of Petits Charrons, En Luraules, Chevalières, Casse Têtes and Les Pelles). Moderate wood sets off cool and airy aromas of green apple, acacia blossom, lemon-lime and crushed fennel. There is fine volume and punch to the utterly delicious middle weight flavors that possess solid mid-palate density while displaying excellent length on the bone-dry and zest-inflected finale. This is an excellent Meursault villages and worth a look. Drink 2031+. Outstanding! JM 88-91 (10/2025): Quite a full yellow. A firm bouquet, plenty of fruit but not the rounded style of old-fashioned Meursault. Fills out more on the palate, with greengage and citrus, lime and grapefruit. The usual Boillot intensity and length. Drink from 2028-2031. |

| JM 94-96 (10/2024): Mid lemon yellow, with a pure sunny white fruit nose, not demonstrative. Much classier stone fruit in the mouth, with a citrus energy towards the back. Well integrated oak, great persistence, this is a very noble Goutte d’Or. Drink from 2030-2036. |

BH 92 (6/2024): There is a touch of post-bottling reduction present but I doubt it will last as the underlying fruit seems ripe. As one would expect from a classic example of Poruzots, there is excellent volume and power to the big bodied flavors that are at once dense and serious before culminating in a robust, muscular and impressively long finale. This won't wow you with its finesse but then again, that's not why one buys Poruzots. Drink 2030+. Outstanding! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru marries fruit intensity with drive. It’s a combination that works so well here. Then again, that is a signature of this part of the vineyard. Crushed rocks, lemon peel, mint, white pepper and light tropical notes all come alive with some time in the glass. Neal Martin. |

| JM 90-92 (10/2024): From upper Porusots. A rich yellow with a green tint. This is oakier and even a bit heavy on the nose. Fuller white fruit on the palate, the colour and nose will be cleaned up before bottling. A touch of bacon fat. More complicated to taste today. Given Henri Boillot’s track record I would expect this to be sorted before bottling, and thus to rate higher than today’s verdict. Drink from 2029-2033. |

JM 93-96 (10/2025): Mid lemon colour. A clear cut chiselled white fruit nose with fine intensity. An electric backbone and without the four-square element of some Poruzots. Extremely fine and here I can see the 2014 suggestion. Drink from 2029-2034. BH 92 (6/2026): An even more floral-suffused nose reflects notes of green tea, mineral reduction and a more subtle touch of wood. The tautly muscular larger-scaled flavors retain a similarly sleek mouthfeel while exuding a discreet stoniness on the powerful and impressively persistent finish. Poruzots always ages well and this well-made effort is going to need up to a decade of it to reach its peak. Drink 2032+. Outstanding Top Value! |

BH 93-95 (4/2021): A ripe, pure, and airy and elegant nose combines notes of plum, black raspberry and spice with soft earth and floral nuances. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is almost gossamer fine yet there is no lack of punch to the strikingly long and again, beautifully balanced finale. This isn't as dense as the Champans or the Clos des Ducs though it does possess that ineffable quality of breed. This is pretty much textbook Taillepieds. (Drink starting 2031). VM 93-95 (12/2020): The 2019 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with disarmingly pure red cherry, cranberry and rose petal and incense scents. This is one of the domaine’s most alluring aromatics this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very well balanced with a sensual, deep finish that caresses the mouth. This is a wonderful Volnay that will give 20-30 years of drinking pleasure. This may well end up at the top of my banded score. (Drink between 2024-2050). Neal Martin. WA 93-95 (1/2021): The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds is unusually refined this year, even if it's still very much a vin de garde, unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, cherries, dark chocolate, warm spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and elegantly muscular, it's deep and layered, with bright acids and beautifully refined tannins. |

| JM 94 (9/2023): The most youthful colour amongst the Charmes-Chambertins, a fresh crimson purple. Some slightly beery notes at first on the nose, but then powerful floral and raspberry notes take over. | VM 95 (12/2021): The 2019 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 1er Cru was bottled in June and July ‘21. Very perfumed and floral scents on the nose, dark cherries, bergamot, damp earth and touches of clove, later hints of violet and blood orange (traits that I observed out of barrel). This is nicely detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, fine acidity, lightly spiced with a classy espresso-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Excellent. Neal Martin. |

| BH 95 (4/2021): (from Chambolle fruit). This too is quite aromatically cool and restrained with its combination of essence of red currant, cherry, lavender, soft spice elements and admirably subtle wood. The juicy and impressively concentrated flavors flash excellent intensity and focused power while displaying the same gorgeous texture as the Echezeaux, all wrapped in a hugely long, serious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is beautifully refined, indeed while it may seem like an oxymoron given Bonnes Mares’ well-deserved reputation for power and muscle, this is more a wine of finesse. Even so, this should have no trouble aging and improving for close to 20 years. Drink 2036+. |

The super-sleek, intense and mineral-driven flavors possess excellent delineation while delivering outstanding length on the classy, focused and balanced finale. JM 93 (9/2023): A powerful dark colour on the more sombre side. This is a stern and muscular Beaune Grèves with dark fruit, some blacker notes which this vineyard can manage. Long and powerful with the black cherries taking charge. I do not find this over-extracted, just a baby waiting to develop, with some minerality offering further encouragement for a good long term outcome. VM 89 (12/2023): The 2019 Beaune Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus 1er Cru has a much more understated bouquet—low-key and more tertiary in style, with finely-delineated dark cherries and hints of bergamot tea mixed with bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins. Quite a polished Beaune Grèves, there is a sumptuousness to this wine with a lightly spiced finish, though it doesn't quite have the complexity or mineralité of its peers. I've had better bottles. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2036). Neal Martin. |

WA 92-94 (1/2021): The 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is very promising, mingling aromas of cherries and berries with hints of peony, orange rind and forest floor in an incipiently complex bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's charming and complete, with supple tannins and a concentrated core of fruit. BH 91-93 (4/2021): An even more floral-suffused nose offers another step up in elegance with its attractively spiced aromas of rose petal, violet, sandalwood and cool red cherry. The sleek, intense and sophisticated medium weight flavors brim with minerality and dry extract on the balanced, persistent and complex finale. This mildly austere effort will need most of a decade to arrive at its peak - well worth seeking out. (Drink starting 2029). VM 90-92 (12/2020): The 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru was more muted on the nose, dark berry fruit mingling with autumn leaves and earthy notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry. This has more substance than the preceding Savigny Les Lavières, and more grip, with subtle mushroom notes combining with red fruit on the finish. This should drink well over the next 10–12 years. (Drink between 2023-2033). Neal Martin. |

| VM 92 (12/2023): The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a lot of reduction on the nose, and the wood is far less integrated than the others in the flight. It certainly doesn't hold a torch to Rousseau's Cazetiers. The palate is medium-bodied, with a firm structure, good backbone and commendable sapidity. It is a bit backward and doesn't have the complexity of its peers toward the finish. Again, there is a touch of reduction. It may well find its groove with continued aeration, but I will be prudent with my score for now. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

| BH 91 (4/2021): A much more sauvage-suffused nose speaks of dark berries, plum, earth and soft but perceptible wood influence. | BH 92 (4/2021): A cool, restrained and pretty nose exhibits the pure essence of various red berries and soft spice wisps, all of which is framed in just enough wood to mention. The super-sleek, intense and overtly stony middle weight plus flavors are firmly structured while the sneaky long finish is youthfully austere and exceptionally compact. Unlike the prior wines that could arguably be approached after a few years, I would strongly advise not touching this for at least a decade. (Drink starting 2034). |

| VM 91 (12/2023): The 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a clean, precise, complex bouquet with brambly red fruit, briar and touches of blood orange. The oak here is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and is quite citrus-driven, with blood orange (again) infusing the layered red fruit. This is perhaps just missing a little grip and complexity as it sashays toward the finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal MArtin. |

BH 91 (4/2021): A distinctly floral-suffused nose exhibits additional notes of spice and red cherry. The wonderfully refined, indeed delicate, flavors possess a lacy texture while exuding a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere finale. This is pretty much textbook Carelle. (Drink starting 2026). VM 91-93 (12/2020): The 2019 Volnay En Carelle Sous La Chapelle 1er Cru is matured in 20% new oak and is completely de-stemmed. It offers darker fruit compared to the Volnay Village with raspberry, wild strawberry and cranberry. Hints of briary and sous-bois develope in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a vibrant entry, veins of blood orange suffusing the bright red fruit with a slightly chalky textured finish. Very good tension throughout this Volnay that should give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. (Drink between 2022-2040). Neal Martin. |

| BH 90 (4/2022): An exuberantly spicy and not quite as ripe nose blends slightly fresher notes of raspberry, black cherry and exotic tea. The wonderfully vibrant middle weight plus flavors brim with both dry extract and minerality on the palate drenching, very firm and moderately austere finish where a similar level of warmth slowly emerges. This bitter chocolate-inflected effort should age well but it's necessary to be tolerant of noticeable warmth. |

BH 91 (4/2021): Once again there is a liqueur-like aspect to the pretty and fresh aromas of plum, black raspberry and an abundance of spice elements and especially anise. The precise, refined and energetic flavors brim with minerality that adds a sense of lift to the beautifully complex, persistent and balanced finale. This is a terrific villages and very much worth your interest. (Drink starting 2027). WA 90+ (9/2021): The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries and cherries mingled with subtle hints of petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and precise, with a nicely concentrated core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins, it's more classically proportioned than its richer, riper 2018 counterpart. |

| VM 97 (4/2023): The 2019 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is the real deal. Dark cherry, pressed iris flower, crushed stone and blueberry burst from the glass, all with killer delineation and focus. You could inhale this all day! The palate is sculpted to perfection, symmetrical and poised, gaining intensity in the glass toward its satin-textured finish. This is going to be glorious! Tasted at the Clos de Bèze vertical at La Cobotte. Neal Martin. |

| BH 89 (10/2022): A pretty and expressive nose features a mix of plum, red currant and freshly turned earth wisps. The supple, round and succulent medium weight flavors possess an almost salty character that really comes up on the refreshing, moderatelly firm and ever-so-mildly austere finish. While not impossible to approach now, I would be strongly inclined to allow this another 5 to 8 years first. A quality villages. Drink 2026+. |

| VM 93 (12/2023): The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a veneer of new oak on the nose plus some reduction, but there seems to be plenty of red fruit here-it’s just suppressed under that reductive haze at the moment. The palate is clean and fresh with fine tannins, a silver bead of acidity and touches of allspice and black pepper that furnish a relatively complex and engaging finish. Persistent. This is a finely-crafted Les Cazetiers. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2027-2050) |

VM 96 (12/2023): The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru, which I never tasted from barrel, has a sublime bouquet that is the paragon of Pinot's transparency. Perfumed with joyous red fruit, crushed stone and a touch of wilted rose petal, the aromatics whisk you to the famed walled vineyard. The palate is beautifully balanced with slightly chalky tannins and a surfeit of energy and tension. It’s quite linear and strict toward the finish that just loses its initial crystalline quality. But still, this is a very great wine from Jean-Marie Fourrier. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. JM 98 (9/2023): Solid, rich dark crimson. Dark berry fruit, again evidently quite ripe yet showing a sense of balance. This style of bouquet I find enormously pleasing. Layers of flavour on the palate, a vibrant minerality, nuanced all the way through, no excessive alcohol, though the fruit is certainly ripe, and a velvet touch to the finish that is matched by a fresher feel. Brilliant wine! |

JM 91 (11/2021): Mid purple in colour, juicy red and black fruit, a little bit of menthol, sensual, covers the tannins which are certainly present, fair length and easy to appreciate. BH 89-92 (1/2021): Firm reduction blocks an evaluation of the nose today though the underlying fruit does seem ripe. There is excellent vibrancy to the subtly mineral-driven larger-scaled flavors that possess better depth and persistence on the muscular, serious and youthfully austere finale. This is very Nuits in character without being overly rustic. Drink 2031+. |

VM 92-94 (12/2020): The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru was a little more reduced than Gouges’s other cuvées, opening gradually to reveal blackberry, wild hedgerow and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lithe and silky in the mouth, and fleshy with a judicious touch of white pepper toward the finish. The shortfall in grip and substance is sufficiently compensated with elegance. Neal Martin. JM 90-94 (11/2020): Very reductive. Dense, almost sombre purple. A little toastiness too. Will rack end November to bottle Feb/March, and it needs the racking. Sweetly ripe, very dense, dark cherry here, not too cooked but it is quite a monster on the dark side. Just give it twenty years… Just a little fresher at the finish. BH 90-92 (1/2021): This is also quite firmly reduced and unreadable at present. Otherwise there is equally good energy and delineation to the slightly more refined though still dense and muscular medium-bodied flavors that possess just a bit more depth on the similar finish that is muscular, serious and youthfully austere if not especially rustic. Drink 2031+. |

| BH 91-94 (4/2021): This is quite firmly reduced and completely unreadable in its current condition. There is much to like however on the palate of the sleek, well-detailed and beautifully textured larger-scaled flavors that also flash ample minerality and serious power on the slightly woody finish. This is somewhat awkward today though all of the components appear to be present for this to harmonize, especially since the very firm and robust supporting tannins make clear that this is going to require extended cellaring to arrive at its apogee. As such my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will progressively harmonize after a few years of bottle age. (Drink starting 2034). |

| VM 93-95 (12/2020): The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has an exquisite bouquet of crystalline red berry fruit laced with minerals, wonderfully delineated and focused. The palate is smooth and sensual on the entry, and very cohesive, with a perfect line of acidity. Pure and ravishing, armed with a satin-textured finish, this is going to be very difficult to resist once in bottle. Superb. Neal Martin. |

| BH 88-91 (4/2021): This is even riper and it's to the point that the dark berry fruit and spice aromas flirt with prune. There is better freshness on the palate of the middle weight flavors that also possess very good verve on the rich, mineral-driven and lingering finish that is shaped by finer-grained tannins. I can't say that the nose appeals to me but this is still an interesting effort in its fashion. (Drink starting 2026). |

| VM 96 (12/2023): The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru has a magnificent nose. Perfumed and utterly seductive, it emanates multi-layered black and red fruit, forest floor, hints of black truffle shavings and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with pure black fruit that disguises the serious structure behind this wine. Gentle but insistently grippy and suffused with mineralité, this fans out wonderfully on the extremely persistent finish. There is a little ostentation derived from the growing season, but the terroir keeps it all in check. Just a little alcoholic on the aftertaste? Très grand Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

| BH 89-91 (1/2021): A very fresh and ripe nose freely offers up its aromas of red and dark currant and pungent earth scents. There is more volume if less refinement to the medium-bodied flavors that are succulent to the point of being almost seductive before concluding in a firm, moderately rustic and sneaky long and solidly firm finale. Worth your interest. Drink 2027+. Outstanding! |

| VM 94 (12/2023): The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has the most fruit on the nose, with ample blackberry and boysenberry, cracked black pepper and a touch of sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy black fruit and fine acidity, good structure, gentle but insistent grip and a saline finish. This is rather stylized. There is an abiding sense of harmony to this Morey, and it should give 20 years of drinking pleasure, at least. Bon vin. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2048). | BH 93 (1/2022): An intensely floral-suffused nose speaks of equally cool aromas of red pinot fruit and a beautiful array of spice elements. There is terrific vibrancy to the dense and muscular but sleek medium weight plus flavors that possess lovely definition, all wrapped in a mouth coating, mineral-driven and powerful finale. This built-to-age and firm effort is finer, if not quite as dense, as the Chenevery but even so it is already more complete. Excellent though patience again suggested. Drink 2033+. |

| VM 95-97 (12/2020): The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is quite closed on the nose, offering discreet blackberry, raspberry and light violet aromas that you might mistake for a Vosne-Romanée. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins. This is a juicy Clos de Vougeot, a little savory and quite peppery on the finish, which you might misconstrue as a result of some stem addition. Sculpted with Jean-Nicolas Méo's finest chisel, this is a wonderful Clos de Vougeot. Neal Martin. |

| BH 93-95 (4/2021): This is also quite firmly reduced and revealing nothing at present. On the palate though the slightly bigger flavors possess only a bit more volume but notably more power and particularly so on the even longer though not necessarily more complex finale. This is very classy juice with that sense of poise that all great wines seem to have. Very promising. |

Decanter 95 (10/2020): This is produced from a 0.8ha parcel of 80-year-old vines at mid-slope that Philippe Pacalet has worked with since 2016. The grapes yield very little, but produce wines of intense concentration. Aromas of ripe black plum, exotic spices and mineral leap from the glass, while the texture of the wine is super-rich but not lacking in backbone. This is immediately approachable, but still has the substance to age for years to come. BH 92-94 (4/2021): Like the Echézeaux, this is firmly reduced but clearly ripe. I very much like the seductive and expansive texture of the larger-scaled and powerful flavors that are supported by remarkably fine tannins on the firm, equally compact and built-to-age finale. Most of the wines in the range display only vestiges of the whole cluster vinification, though here it's quite evident. This too is lovely stuff, but I would advise not touching a bottle for at least 10 years. Drink 2036+. |

| BH 88 (4/2021): (from 6 different lieux-dits.) A ripe nose features notes of red raspberry, black cherry and earth. The exceptionally rich middle weight flavors possess a velvety, round and textured mouthfeel that terminates in a youthfully austere and reasonably long finale. This needs more depth but may well develop it if allowed a few years of bottle aging. Drink 2026+. |

| BH 90-92 (4/2021): Equally ripe aromas feature red and purple fruit, earth and an appealing range of spice elements. There is fine underlying tension to the sleekly textured and well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a balanced if decidedly linear bitter pit fruit inflected finish. A few years of aging should be beneficial in order to add some flesh to what is a slightly lean backend. Drink 2029+. |

| BH 88-91 (4/2021): (from Les Trois Follots, Les Vaumuriens, Rugiens-Hauts villages and La Vache.) Ripe and very fresh aromas blend notes of red and dark pinot fruit with those of violet and cool earth. There is outstanding intensity to the rather refined medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere finish that also could use a bit more depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range. BH 98 (1/2022): Equally subtle wood frames the even spicier if slightly riper nose that reflects a layered blend of red currant, violet, rose petal, earth and a whisper of exotic tea. The full-bodied if slightly less concentrated flavors also reflect an abundance of minerality on the firm, serious and equally well-balanced, youthfully austere and hugely long finale. I usually prefer one or the other [Chambertin] at this stage each year but in 2019, while the two wines are noticeably different, it's not clear which will ultimately be the more interesting. In sum, this is a choice but one where there is no wrong answer as this too is brilliant! (Drink starting 2041). VM 94+ (12/2023): The 2019 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a little more concentration and what seems like more extraction on the nose than Faiveley's. Dark berry fruit, incense and veins of blue fruit emerge, perhaps needing just to dial up the delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and flavors of layered red fruit mixed with blood orange and a pinch of cinnamon. Impressive in its weight and density, this is a Clos-de-Bèze built for long term aging and the zestiness/energy should see it mature with style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2027-2052). Neal Martin. |

VM 94 (12/2023): The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Belair 1er Cru has a well-defined nose, the fruit here darker than its peers. Blackberry commingles with raspberry, briar and neatly-integrated oak, and there is clever use of whole bunch here. The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, fleshy in texture and very pure in terms of its red fruit profile, with a little more depth and body on the finish than some others. This represents a delightful Gevrey Premier Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2044). Neal Martin. BH 91 (1/2022): A decidedly sauvage-inflected nose is comprised by notes of garrigue, wild fruit and plenty of newly turned earth nuances. The vibrant, well-detailed and sleekly textured middle weight flavors that brim with minerality on the youthfully austere, focused and sneaky long finish that displays good grip. This attractive effort should also benefit from mid-term cellaring. (Drink starting 2027). |

| BH 93 (1/2022): The expressive nose is similar if slightly riper with less obvious herbal tea nuances. There is excellent volume to the relatively fine, and finely detailed, middle weight flavors that possess a sleek muscularity before culminating in a mineral-driven, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish that is shaped by firm but not austere or rustic tannins. Very good quality. (Drink starting 2031). |

| BH 93-95 (1/2021): (from a 2.67 ha parcel situated entirely in terres rouges soil in the far southern portion of the vineyard.) A riper and more restrained nose requires some swirling to reveal its aromas of plum liqueur, blue berry, earth and a more restricted range of spice elements. The bigger and richer flavors possess an opulent richness and a velvety texture that coats the palate and enrobes the firmer tannic spine shaping the powerful, tautly muscular and strikingly persistent finale. This offers a completely different expression compared to the Amoureuses but one that is equally interesting. This too possesses superb development potential though patience definitely advised. Drink 2039+. Don't miss! |

| BH 95-98 (1/2021): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha section planted to chardonnay.) This too is quite aromatically restrained though aggressive swirling does eventually coax the pure and elegant aromas to emerge and when they do, they are almost a hypothetical blend of the Amoureuses and the Bonnes Mares. The concentrated, powerful and decidedly muscular flavors retain plenty of refinement and minerality that conclude in a wonderfully complex and superbly long finale. The mid-palate texture is akin to rolling rocks around in the mouth and the finish just goes on and on. This too is brilliant, and the word Zen definitely comes to mind. Drink 2041+. Don't miss! |

WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip. BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |
