| BH 93 (4/2017): A cool and ultra-pure nose features notes of both red and dark cherry, earth, spice and plenty of earth character that is also reflected by the sleek and relatively refined middle weight flavors that evidence a firm muscularity, all wrapped in a moderately structured, youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. This is very Corton in basic disposition but like the 2015, it's not particularly rustic and should age well for 15+ years. Drink 2029+. |

BH 91 (4/2021): As it did when I originally reviewed this wine, it has the curious kind of reduction the Burgundians refer to as bourgeon de cassis (cassis blossom). Otherwise there is good density and richness to the velvet-textured larger-scaled flavors that possess robust power on the moderately austere and slightly drying finale that isn't exactly rustic, but it would be fair to say that it's not especially refined either. It's hard to predict how this wine will ultimately turn out as the nose is a bit of a concern given that it's been in bottle almost 5 years. By contrast I suspect that the dryness currently displayed by the finish will slowly dissipate with age. I would add that this is still quite youthful so there will be ample time for that to occur. (Drink starting 2031).
WA 90 (1/2019): The 2016 Corton Grand Cru is showing well from bottle, unwinding in the glass to blow off a light touch of youthful reduction, revealing aromas of cassis, spices and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with juicy acids, powdery tannins and good length on the finish. The 2016 can't match the depth and amplitude of the 2015 rendition, but it's a very good effort. |

JM 95 (5/2022): Pale lemon and lime colour. A vigorous nose with a stony reduction, that allows the fruit to flourish alongside. Some citrus, then a really intense weight of fruit, on the cusp of white and yellow. Very pure, very linear, plenty of energy. Excellent texture on the palate.
VM 93 (11/2022): The 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a reductive nose but there is some fine fruit here, touches of orange pith, honeysuckle and melted candle wax. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a hint of wood to be subsumed on the entry, impressive depth with a slightly toasty finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. (Drink between 2024-2035.) Neal Martin.
BH 93 (9/2023): A ripe yet attractively fresh, cool, pure and elegant nose combines notes of various white fleshed fruit scents that in particular include Granny Smith and pear, along with hints of citrus and wet stone. There is excellent intensity as well as fine richness to the detailed and mineral-driven flavors where the minerality adds a sense of lift to the complex and sneaky long finale. While indisputably young, it's not so backward that it couldn't be approached now even though a few more years of keeping should help to add better depth. (Drink starting 2026.) |

| VM 93 (8/2018): The 2016 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a very precise bouquet with subtle veins of liquorice infusing the citrus fruit, all well defined and focused, if not blatantly powerful. The palate is very well delineated with a slightly viscous, utterly harmonious opening. This feels effortless and natural, the acidity beautifully pitched with a precise and sustained finish that has just the right amount of salinity to urge another sip. Bon vin! | VM 91 (9/2018): Ripe stone fruits complemented by nutty nuances on the nose. Plush and fine-grained, with its stone fruit flavors currently overshadowed by nuts, earth and salty minerality. Rich and mouthfilling for young Corton-Charlemagne but I don't find quite the verve or grip shown by a barrel sample a year ago. | WA 93 (8/2018): Raveneau's 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is excellent, offering up a youthfully reserved bouquet of apple, white peach, beeswax and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with lovely texture, considerable mid-palate amplitude and a bright line of acidity, concluding with a firm, salty finish that balances its somewhat gourmand attack. Along with the Vaillons, the Butteaux stood out as one of the most complete of Raveneau's premiers crus this year, revealing more and more nuance over several days. Right now, it's quite closed, but I won't be surprised if it becomes quite musky and exotic after a few years in the cellar. |

| VM 92 (9/2018): Bright, light yellow. Inviting musky aromas of yellow peach and hazelnut. Intensely flavored and sweet, with harmonious acidity energizing the flavors of lemon, orange oil and spices. Finishes suave, savory and aromatic, with surprising energy. The Charmes possesses more grip but this wine is more charming today. A very good choice of harvest date here! The first vintage for this wine was 2011, and since 2015 the estate has begun to reap the benefits of the work it has done in these vines, which were planted in the 1950s, the 1980s and around 2000, according to Eric Baudin. | VM 91+ (9/2018): Green-tinged yellow. Piquant lime zest and mineral aromas. Lively and sharply delineated but also displays excellent depth and salty minerality, with its limey acidity giving it a compellingly juicy character. Finishes tactile and long. Lots of potential here. These vines, planted between 1958 and 1962, produced just under 30 hectoliters per hectare in 2016, which assistant Baudin described as "not a disaster in terms of yield in 2016." He noted that the wine Roulot makes from this favored site is typically between the estate's lieux-dits and premier crus in quality. A step up in intensity and spicy concentration as well, with apple and spice flavors framed by ripe acidity and enlivened by mineral verve. With less frost here, the estate made a bit more than 30 hectoliters per hectare, and the wine comes across as more energetic than the basic village bottling. (Drink between 2020-2027). A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |

WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip.
BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast.
