| VM 94 (2/2009): Good deep red. Knockout nose offers superb clarity and lift to the aromas of black raspberry, peppery spices, minerals, smoky herbs and blood orange. Wonderfully dense yet somehow weightless, showing Outstanding floral lift to its sappy, tangy raspberry, mocha and pepper flavors. This spreads out to saturate the palate on the gripping, very long finish. A wonderfully suave example of this grand cru. |

BH 95 (4/2020): (from Chambolle fruit.) Here the reserved nose is ripe yet cool with its layered combination of both red and dark berry fruit aromas that are also quite spicy. There is a bit less density to the middle weight flavors that compensate by being sleeker and more well-delineated on the beautifully textured, dusty, powerful and very serious finale. This is unapologetically built-to-age and a wine that's going to need at least a decade first. Drink 2035+. WA 95+ (1/2020): Another of the highlights of the range is the 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a striking wine that soars from the glass with notes of raspberries, red berries, rose petals, sweet spices, violets and forest floor. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with striking cut and definition, concluding with a long, mineral finish. This is an exquisitely refined Bonnes-Mares that is worth a special effort to seek out. |

| BH 95 (4/2021): (from Chambolle fruit). This too is quite aromatically cool and restrained with its combination of essence of red currant, cherry, lavender, soft spice elements and admirably subtle wood. The juicy and impressively concentrated flavors flash excellent intensity and focused power while displaying the same gorgeous texture as the Echezeaux, all wrapped in a hugely long, serious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is beautifully refined, indeed while it may seem like an oxymoron given Bonnes Mares’ well-deserved reputation for power and muscle, this is more a wine of finesse. Even so, this should have no trouble aging and improving for close to 20 years. Drink 2036+. |

| BH 95 (3/2022): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A cool, pretty and quite floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of red currant, plum, earth and a hint of just sliced fennel. The sleek, tautly muscular and enveloping big-bodied flavors exude a lovely tension that is also present on the dusty, serious, very compact and clearly built-to-age finale. This excellent effort should amply repay extended cellaring. Drink 2035+. |

| BH 94 (4/2023): A much more floral nose blends notes of dark currant, anise and a similar smoked meat component. The notably finer, indeed almost delicate, flavors possess deceptive density while delivering outstanding length on the balanced, firm and already nicely complex finale. Lovely and a wine that epitomizes 'power without weight'. |

BH 95 (4/2025): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A slightly riper though still appealingly fresh nose combines notes of red and black cherry along with spice hints and a background suggestion of kirsch. There is a lovely sense of delicacy and refinement to the reasonably concentrated flavors that possess a gorgeous acid/fruit/tannin balance on the hugely long finale where a touch of wood slowly emerges. This is not what I would describe as a classic Bonnes Mares but it is nonetheless a gorgeous wine, indeed calling it a Bonnes Mares of finesse would be apt. Drink 2035+. JM 94-96 (10/2024): A crimson ruby. A little wilder than the Chambertin duo, a little plummier, softly ripe raspberries, a range of interesting complex aromatics. Builds fascinatingly on the palate, possibly a higher pH but thoroughly rewarding, with a complex texture as well, multi-layered, and very long. Drink from 2032-2040. |

BH 91 (5/2026): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A spicy and expressive nose is composed primarily by notes of both red and dark currant, plum and soft earth wisps. There is good detail to the acceptably concentrated flavors that do possess focused power on the nicely persistent, firm and balanced finale. This does though need more depth so at least some cellaring is in order. Dink 2032+. JM 89-92 (10/2025): Medium crimson in colour. I am needing to coax out the nose which is not as sublimely explosive than it has been in certain riper vintages. Tougher and tighter with grainier tannins, more difficult. The acidity pokes through. Not the same level as the last two Volnay 1ers Crus, nor indeed up to its usual standard as this is often a sublime cuvée chez Henri Boillot. |

| BH 89 (4/2014): (from the 1er Le Clos Blanc.) An expressive nose blends notes of both red and dark berry fruit, earth, underbrush and game hints. There is good detail and verve to the middle weight flavors that possess the same saline component as the Caillerets before culminating in a delicious and intense finish. While this is not a true villages given the declassified 1er fruit, it definitely offers better than average quality for its declared level. Drink 2018+. Outstanding Top Value! |

VM 90 (3/2015): Bright, dark red. Sweet red berries, nutty oak and subtle soil tones on the nose. Fat, sweet and spicy, showing good fullness for village wine. Savory, serious Volnay with good vinosity and density and a saline complexity. Finishes with broad, building, ripe tannins and good savory persistence. Antonio Galloni. BH 88 (4/2014): (Entirely from 5 different 1ers). An earthy and distinctly ripe nose of cassis, plum and soft floral aromas gives way to equally earthy middle weight flavors where once again the supporting tannins are relatively fine-grained. The finale is firm without being rustic though there is enough youthful austerity to notice. This should reward mid-term cellaring. Drink 2018+. |

| BH 90 (4/2018): A discreet application of wood sets off a more deeply pitched nose of plum, dark cherry, spice and soft earth. Like the Bourgogne there is fine volume to the dense, serious and sappy flavors that possess unusually good complexity to the sneaky long finish. This is an excellent Volnay villages and worthy of your interest. Drink 2023+. Outstanding! |

| BH 89 (4/2019): A perfumed and airy nose features essence of raspberry and soft spice elements, the latter of which can be found on the pure and energetic lighter weight flavors that possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in a sneaky long bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. A quality Volnay villages. Drink 2022+. |

JM 88-90 (10/2025): A medium depth of crimson. Some floral elegance to the nose with some light raspberry aromas. Very nicely balanced on the attack, them some oak and the slight austerity of the vintage come into play. The aftertaste however shows both raspberry and strawberry fruit to good effect. Drink from 2028-2033. BH 89 (4/2026): (from the confusingly named Le Village, of which there are several parcels scattered around the commune; this particular one is near Clos des Ducs). A slightly riper nose also features plum and violet nuances together with slightly darker fruit and more spice elements. The sleek and beautifully detailed flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the focused, precise and lightly austere finale. This is a Volnay of lace and grace but one that packs a certain power all the same. I like the understated style and this should repay mid-term cellaring. Drink 2030+. |

Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets (1.5 L) |

BH 94 (4/2013): (from a .60 ha parcel). In contrast to the jovial expressiveness of the prior wines this is much more reserved with its ripe yet cool aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur, spice and wet stone. The silky and equally cool and restrained middle weight flavors offer Outstanding definition on the rich, energetic and hugely long saline-infused finish. This is one seriously impressive Caillerets but note well that it’s built to age. Drink 2023+. VM 93+ (3/2014): Bright, dark red. Ripe, deep, multifaceted nose offers black cherry, raspberry, licorice, earth, gunflint and smoky minerality. Much denser than the Chevrets, showing terrific concentration and balance to its dark fruit, mineral and spice flavors. Finishes spicy, chewy and very long, with serious fine-grained tannins and sexy hints of pepper and herbs. Really perfectly integrated acidity here. This was a knockout from barrel a year ago and has been bottled with its tightly coiled spring intact. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 93 (4/2021): (from a .60 ha parcel). Here the pure and ripe nose offers yet another level of spiciness that includes clove, anise and sandalwood that adds breadth of the aromas of black raspberry, violet, rose petal and tea. The super-sleek, intense and mineral-driven flavors possess excellent delineation while delivering outstanding length on the classy, focused and balanced finale. At least 6 to 8 years of cellaring is recommended. Drink 2031+. |

BH 94 (4/2025): (from a .60 ha parcel). Exuberantly spicy and ripe yet cool aromas are composed by notes of plum, dark raspberry and cassis. Once again there is fine volume to the caressing and gorgeously textured but very punchy medium weight flavors that conclude in a firm, dusty, complex and hugely persistent finish. This is exceptionally classy but altogether serious and if you can find it, buy it.Drink 2033+. JM 91-93 (10/2024): A darker crimson colour, and the fruit too has added a darker note. Black raspberries, a little fresher red fruit further back on the palate, concentrated, tannins present but ripe, fair length. Perhaps this could have been picked a couple of days earlier. Drink from 2029-2035. |

JM 91-94 (10/2025): A little deeper in crimson, approaching ruby. The complex nose offers slightly darker fruit, a briary note, and a little new oak. The most volume of fruit among the Volnays, plus that slightly more regal touch to the fruit, which covers the bone structure completely. Good acidity behind. Promising. Drink from 2030-2036. VM 92 (1/2026): The 2024 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a well-defined nose with cranberry and raspberry fruit, touches of tobacco and sous-bois, the latter becoming more pronounced with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a dash of black pepper on the entry. Fine weight and depth, quite fresh with a touch of allspice and cinnamon on the finish. This should give a decade of drinking pleasure. Neal Martin. BH 91 (4/2026): (from a .60 ha parcel). An exuberantly spicy nose freely reveals its combination of pure and equally elegant aromas of red and dark pinot fruit together with an array of floral nuances. The refined and lilting flavors are not especially concentrated but they also flash ample minerality on the focused, moderately austere and complex finale. This is lovely and while it's not going to wow anyone with its size and weight, the finesse and class alone are worth the price of admission. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! |

BH 92 (4/2025): (from 25+ year old vines). An elegant, pure and airy nose is beautifully layered with its mix of spicy red and black pinot fruit aromas. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is markedly finer, indeed the word finesse springs to mind, and particularly so on the stony, detailed and well-balanced finale. A wine of lace and grace. Drink 2031+. JM 92-94 (10/2024): A fine crimson purple. A little fresher than the Frémiets, with pure red fruit, cherry and raspberry, a little more mouthfilling, stays youthful all the way through, very well mastered, an impressive Chevrets. Drink from 2029-2034. |

JM 90-93 (10/2025): A vibrant crimson with a little more depth than the Fremiets. The aromatics approach the nobility of a Caillerets, and so too on the palate. A fresh limestone thread runs through the middle. All the class of Volnay with structure too. Drink from 2029-2035. VM 91 (1/2026): The 2024 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has a pretty, cranberry and raspberry-scented bouquet, with touches of crushed stone and undergrowth, a little Pommard-like. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, pliant tannins. A healthy sprinkle of black pepper here, quite gentle but cohesive towards the crowd-pleasing finish. Very fine. Neal Martin. BH 91 (4/2026): (from 30+ year old vines). A cooler and airier nose features elegant aromas of lavender, the essence of red cherry, crushed anise and a hint of spiced tea. The gorgeously textured and refined middle weight flavors exude an evident stoniness on the bitter pit fruit and youthfully austere finale that is firm and impressively persistent. As is virtually always the case, this is a wine of finesse and refinement. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! |

BH 91 (4/2025): Here the expressive nose is slightly riper and spicier with a similar mix of red and dark berries and exotic tea along with more floral elements. The sleek, caressing and nicely punchy middle weight flavors possess adequate mid-palate density together a refined, long and balanced finale. This is perhaps a bit finer than it usually is with solid development potential. Drink 2031+. JM 90-93 (10/2024): Frémiets, the limestone radiator, says Henri. Picked in good time, as the perfume of ripe raspberry with a little soft strawberry indicates. Satisfying across the palate with some energy at the finish, fully ripe but has kept its balance and with adequate acidity. The tannins are fully ripe. Drink from 2029-2034. |

JM 89-91 (10/2025): A slightly more sombre crimson. I am coaxing out some red fruit on the nose, then the intensity rather surprises on the palate. Now I can find more on the nose as well. A suggestion of peonies along with brisk and rather peppery raspberry. Drink from 2028-2035. BH 90 (4/2026): Here too the nose is just a bit riper with its spicy blend of red and blue pinot fruit along with more evident floral wisps. There is solid volume to the succulent and seductively textured medium weight flavors that exhibit good if not truly special depth and persistence on the lightly austere and balanced finale. A few years of bottle aging should see this drink well. Drink 2031+. |

| JM 93-95 (10/2024): A fine even lemon yellow. Racy on the nose, not as immediately distinguished as Goutte d’Or but the qualities creep up on you. | JM 94-97 (10/2024): A fuller yellow here, and an extra degree of completeness, more weight and almost all the class. The oak is still at 50% new and is very well integrated. Gorgeously rich, with little fruits dancing through a meadow. Once again, I do see the magic of this. Henri was strongly advised by his father to look after “Madame de la Mouchère”. BH 96 (6/2026): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). Here too the lightly wooded nose displays a panoply of floral nuances that include rose petal, lilac and acacia blossom with additional notes of just grated zest, spice and green apple. There is almost painful intensity to the slightly more concentrated and more mineral-driven flavors that conclude in a chiseled, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale that seems to go on and on. The Clos de la Mouchère is always excellent but in 2024, it is genuinely stunning. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! JM 93-96 (10/2025): Mid yellow. There is a little touch of patisserie on the nose, showing the additional breadth of fruit on Henri Boillot’s favourite vineyard. That’s what gives the gourmandise to the wine, says Henri. This seems to have all the aspects with an excellent mineral backbone holding the fruit together. Lime blossom and acacia he finds, from the adjacent trees which flower at the same time. Very fine long finish. Drink from 2030-2036. VM 90 (1/2026): The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with a veil of new oak, just like the other cuvées I tasted from Boillot. The palate is balanced with a rounded texture, quite a weight and assertive Puligny that needs more finesse to develop on the finish. Neal Martin. |

JM 92-94 (10/2025): Mid lemon yellow. There is additional weight to the Perrières, making a very complete wine, fresh almonds for me and Henri Boillot finds a mandarin note as well. Strong mineral backbone. Very nicely balanced overall. Drink from 2030-2035. BH 92 (6/2026): Just enough wood to mention sets off the cool aromas of pear confit, acacia blossom and pretty spice wisps. There is excellent punch to the refined, if not especially dense, medium-bodied flavors that exude the hallmark minerality of a fine Perrières that adds a sense of lift to the impressively long and bitter lemon rind-inflected finish. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! |

BH 91 (6/2014): White orchard fruit and the hallmark honeysuckle scents give way to punchy and impressively concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly refined mouth feel if not the sheer depth of the Clos de la Mouchère. To be sure this is a lovely wine that could aptly be described as notably bigger and more powerful than is typical for Pucelles. Drink 2018+. Outstanding! VM 92-95 (10/2013): Green-tinged medium yellow. Ripe stone fruits, pear, honey and hazelnut on the inviting nose and palate. Fat, rich and chewy; this extract-rich wine boasts terrific solidity and depth of fruit. Finishes with Outstanding force and length. Has the palate presence of a grand cru. (Incidentally, there's no Folatieres in 2012; Boillot only made his domain bottlings from Puligny-Montrachet.) |

| JM 93-95 (10/2024): Clear pale lemon. Immediate class on the nose, a pure white fruit with just the right degree of sunshine to make it satisfying. Electricity on the palate, energetic fresh limestone, some ripe citrus persisting behind. Henri tells me that Pucelles came in with both the highest sugar level and the highest acidity. Drink from 2030-2038. |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (from Ladoix, Pernand and Aloxe). Subtle notes of mineral reduction and wood toast can be found on the aromas of green apple, clove and white flowers. The wonderfully intense, focused and muscular large-scaled flavors brim with both dry extract and an almost aggressively minerality on the markedly dry but not really austere finale. Like the Chevalier and Montrachet, this beauty of a Corton-Charlemagne is presently very tightly wound and is going to need extended patience to arrive at its peak. This too should be gorgeous in time. Drink 2032+. |

| BH 91 (6/2022): (a blend of roughly equal proportions from Pelles Dessus, Casse Tête, Grands Charrons, En la Barre, En la Barre, Mal Poirier and En Luraule). Notes of smoked hazelnut, poached pear and pretty acacia blossom scents introduce sleek, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate on the clean, focused, balanced and beautifully long finale. This could use a bit more depth but overall, this is a first-rate Meursault villages. Drink 2026+. |

VM 95-97 (12/2021): The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru, which was undergoing its élevage in foudres, has a very sophisticated bouquet with mineral-rich citrus fruit, hints of hazelnut and lanolin. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. There is a little more density and concentration compared to the regular Chevalier-Montrachet and though there is a patina of oak to be subsumed, this will surely age with style. Excellent. (Readers should note that no 2021 will be produced due to frost and there will just be a tiny amount of Chevalier-Montrachet.) (Drink between 2025-2050). Neal Martin. WA 95-97 (1/2022): The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru is brilliant, bursting with aromas of orange oil, nutmeg, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and peach. Full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it's layered and multidimensional, with striking depth and intensity, concluding with a long, resonant finish. It's a brilliant wine in the making. |

| VM 95 (7/2024): The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru has a creamy nose with touches of white chocolate, almond and chamomile. However, considering the vineyard in question, I would have liked more mineralité and terroir expression. A bit of alcoholic warmth develops in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Tightly coiled citrus fruit, orange zest and patisserie, though it doesn't fully deliver the tour de force finish you want from a "Monty". Let's see what a few years in bottle will do. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Drink between 2028-2052. |

VM 92-94 (11/2021): Fine lemon and lime colour, with a detailed elegant bouquet and a sense of class all the way through to a slightly richer bouquet. The Bouchard 2020 Genevrières certainly has the detail, with a mix of white fruits, a little apple and also some citrus. A fine Genevrières for the medium term. BH 91-93 (6/2022): A ripe and naturally exotic nose features notes of Asian-style tea, anise, white peach and a whiff of fennel. The relatively generously proportioned medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the very dry and youthfully austere finish that also possesses a touch of bitter citrus character. Lovely juice and this is really quite classy. Drink 2028+. |

BH 92 (6/2023): A much more floral-suffused nose reveals its aromas of apple and pear compote, lemon rind and discreet spice elements. There is better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious and appealingly textured medium-bodied flavors that possess markedly better depth and persistence on the youthfully austere, balanced and nicely dry finale. This is quite promising. (Drink starting 2028). VM 91 (7/2024): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru is completely shut down on the nose, to the point where I ask myself whether it has any bouquet at all. Rigorous aeration is ensured to no avail. There is some volatility when I return after 15 minutes. The palate is balanced with a smooth entry, quite honeyed in style, though it feels a bit flat on the finish. I suspect this wine would have benefitted from being picked three or four days earlier. That said, it does meliorate in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2030). Neal Martin. WA 91 (1/2023): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet opens in the glass with tones of nectarine, peach, white currants, freshly baked bread and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and lively, it's an attractive effort that concludes with a saline finish. |

BH 93 (6/2023): Smoky aromas of citrus, green apple and a bit less floral influence precede the precise and tension-filled medium weight flavors that exude evident minerality on the youthfully austere though wonderfully persistent and solidly complex finale. This lovely if linear and serious effort should amply reward mid to even longer-term keeping. Excellent quality here. (Drink starting 2030). WA 93 (1/2023): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is excellent, mingling aromas of crisp orchard fruit with hints of white flowers, pastry cream and struck match in an inviting mélange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive palate. Taut and chalky, it's a charming but classically proportioned white Burgundy. VM 92 (7/2024): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a slightly muted nose at first, though it gently opens with grapefruit, Granny Smith, light granitic and smoke scents. This evolves well in the glass, cohering and gaining delineation. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly honeyed opening that prompts me to wonder if a smidgin of botrytised fruit was in the mix. Still, the acidity maintains tension and feels long on the richer finish. This will be difficult to resist in its youth. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2036). JM 93-95 (6/2021): Lighter lemon yellow, the bouquet offering a light touch of menthol and especially anis. Deeper generous soil here but they think they have learnt to get the best out of it. Certainly a grand cru wealth of fruit, the acidity keeps the balance very nicely, a generous warm overcoat and good length. Nice wine! BH 92-94 (10/2021): This is restrained to the point of being all but aromatically mute though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes notes of green fruit, citrus peel and oyster shell nuances to reveal themselves. There is both excellent volume and concentration to the big-bodied, powerful and imposing flavors that are focused, structured and youthfully austere. This is very much a work in progress, and I would advise allowing this at least 5 years of cellaring and it should easily reward a decade or more. VM 92-94 (10/2021): The 2020 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru comes from six hectares of vines, southwest- and south-facing, forming the two different cuvées. The bouquet unfolds to offer lovely yellow fruit and oyster leaf aromas, well defined and quite generous. The palate is taut and crisp with fine acidity and moderate depth, but very pretty and composed toward the saline finish. There is plenty of substance already in situ and I foresee this aging with class. Neal Martin. |

WA 96 (7/2022): In a sense, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots offers a resumé of several of Fèvre's grand cru bottlings, uniting the taut musculature of Valmur and the ethereal, mineral profile of Les Preuses, with some of the perfumed sensuality of Vaudésir and fleshy texture of Bougros. The result is certainly a very compelling wine, exhibiting aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread, oyster jus and white peach, followed by a full-bodied, taut and layered palate that's seamless and complete, concluding with a pungently mineral finish. It's worth a special effort to seek out, though a decade's patience is warmly advised. BH 96 (9/2022): A deft application of wood lurks in the background of the aromas cool citrus, apple, mineral reduction and ocean breeze wisps. There is an almost painful intensity to the powerful but sleek and defined medium weight plus flavors that brim with minerality on the clean, very dry and hugely long finish. This is also potentially brilliant and well-worth considering. (Drink starting 2032). VM 93 (7/2024): The 2020 Chablis Bougros Côte Bouguerots Grand Cru has a crushed stone scented bouquet. A peppermint trace comes through with aeration. The nose is controlled and citrus-fresh, and I admire the energy. The palate is poised and concentrated, and a silver thread of acidity keeps this Grand Cru tensile and focused. Bright and lightly spiced towards the finish, this fans out with style. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2044). Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (7/2022): Bursting from the glass with aromas of vine blossom, orange zest, crisp white peach and honeycomb, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a seamless, elegantly fleshy profile and lively balancing acids. As is often the case, it's one of the more demonstrative grand cru bottlings in the range, yet its track record for longevity is impressive. BH 93 (9/2022): A discreet dollop of wood sets off the ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, passion fruit and subtle mineral reduction wisps. There is a positively gorgeous texture to the highly refined middleweight flavors that culminate in lightly stony, focused and sneaky long finish. This could use a bit more depth though overall, it is a classic Vaudésir of lace and grace that should generously reward a decade or so of cellaring. |

| BH 92-95 (6/2022): The more elegant nose is both cooler and more classic in style with its overtly floral-suffused aromas of apple, pear, spice and just sliced citrus. There is excellent energy and delineation to the more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that stain the palate on the impressively long and notably more complex finale. This is excellent and a wine that should repay out to a decade of keeping. Drink 2028+. |

VM 88? (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru has a slightly nutty, Meursault-like bouquet that needs a little more freshness. It feels a little more mature than a 2020. There is something a bit static about the aromatics. The palate is balanced with a tangy opening, a simple Chardonnay rather than a definable Saint-Aubin. It is fresh and boasts decent length, but it does not leave you beholden. N.B. I find this far superior at the Domaine, hence my lower score. Perhaps the bottle? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. BH 92 (7/2023): There is just enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit for the moment with the exception of a whisper of lemon zest. By contrast there is really lovely intensity to the precise, cool and restrained mineral-inflected middleweight flavors that terminate in a racy, clean and emphatically dry finale that displays only a trace of youthful austerity. This chiseled effort is excellent and akin to rolling tiny rocks around the mouth. |

WA 94 (1/2023): Once again, the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard contains the young high-density plantings that Lamy deems insufficiently mature to merit inclusion in his Haute Densité cuvée. Offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, its satiny attack segueing into a taut, chalky mid-palate and a long, mineral finish. BH 90 (6/2023): Smoky aromas of green apple, pear and a subtle floral nuance are complemented by succulent, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors that are sleek if not especially dense, all wrapped in a beautifully textured, focused, stony and lingering finish. In contrast to the Clos des Gravières, this is going to need at least a few years of keeping first as it is less forthcoming at present. (Drink starting 2027). |

WA 95 (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly wafts from the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp stone fruit, honeycomb, orange oil and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's racy and precise, combining the aromatic expression and textural attack characteristic of its sunny exposition with the tension and cut appropriate to this high-altitude, stony site. BH 92 (6/2023): This is aromatically quite similar to the Chez Edouard but with more prominent citrus influence. There is notably better density to the equally beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that flash excellent minerality on the solidly powerful, lengthy and impeccably well-balanced finale. Like the Gravières, this should be enjoyable young but have no trouble repaying up to a decade of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028). VM 88 (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with wet pavement and limestone aromas, pinning this as an En Remilly. It just becomes a little diffuse with aeration. The palate is slightly chalky on the entry, has crisp acidity, and may be a little too sharp on the citric finish. I would also prefer more length here. I'm surprised this turned out to be Lamy, but that's blind tasting for you. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

| JM 88-90 (5/2021): A blend from Combe Danay, a cooler hillside location and a bit in Les Sous-Courts on flatter land below the village. Tense and lively again, like the Bourgogne Blanc, if not quite so obviously intense, with lemon and fresh apricot notes. |

| |
| BH 93 (6/2024): There is a vague whisper of the exotic on the petrol-suffused aromas of white peach, passion fruit, citrus confit and floral whiffs that are trimmed in subtle but perceptible wood. The refined, punchy and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors coat the palate with dry extract while displaying excellent persistence on the balanced, youthfully austere, stony and tightly wound finale. This stylish effort has the stuffing to age effortlessly and, at present at least, is slightly more complex than the Clos du Caillerets. (Drink starting 2030). |

| BH 92 (1/2024): Extremely pretty aromas include those of white flowers and white fleshed fruit that is trimmed in both discreet spice and wood nuances. The wood influence is more prominent on the rich and full-bodied flavors that are blessed with ample amounts of dry extract before culminating in a relatively powerful, sappy and balanced finale. This is a classic Morgeot that could easily be enjoyed young or with up to a decade of keeping, which is what I would suggest as it's presently just a bit woody for my taste. (Drink starting 2030) |

| BH 95 (9/2022): A more elegant and ultra-cool nose reveals its combination of floral, citrus zest, iodine and that briny sea water character the best examples of Chablis all seem to possess, all of which is trimmed in moderate but not invasive wood. There isn't quite the same volume on the palate as the Butteaux, but the middleweight flavors are notably more refined before terminating in a driving, chiseled and citrusy bone-dry finale. I very much like the focused power of the finish and this classy effort should also amply reward extended cellaring. Drink 2032+. |

| JM 96-98 (10/2021): Mid lemon yellow. This has the weight which should have. The nose does indeed speak of Montrachet with a measured opulence. The weight on the palate transcends those which have gone before, there is a grip from the barrel and a little toast (a new Chassin barrel and one year old François Frères). Very long and relatively fine finish. Extremely good. |

WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip. BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |
