| BH 93 (4/2012): ( from a 4 ha parcel.) Noticeable though not overt wood influence sets off a very ripe nose composed of liqueur of plum, cassis and wild raspberry aromas. There is excellent richness to the round and relatively powerful medium weight flavors blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the otherwise very firm, long and serious finish. This is also notably austere and extremely compact at present and as such it seems reasonably clear that it will not be a good candidate for early drinking. Drink 2020+. Don't miss! Outstanding! |

| BH 92-94 (4/2018): ( from a 4 ha parcel; in contrast to the other Beaune 1er, Weber noted that this suffered almost no frost losses and came in at <30 hl/ha.) Here too the wood treatment is anything but subtle though it stops just short of completely overshadowing the exuberantly spicy plum liqueur and earth-scented nose. There is good drive and even better detail if not the impressive concentration to the medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the ever-so-slightly warm and very firm finish. Again, my predicted range assumes that the wood treatment will be successfully absorbed over time and note as well that plenty of patience will be necessary. Drink 2031+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

JM 93 (9/2023): A powerful dark colour on the more sombre side. This is a stern and muscular Beaune Grèves with dark fruit, some blacker notes which this vineyard can manage. Long and powerful with the black cherries taking charge. I do not find this over-extracted, just a baby waiting to develop, with some minerality offering further encouragement for a good long term outcome.
VM 89 (12/2023): The 2019 Beaune Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus 1er Cru has a much more understated bouquet—low-key and more tertiary in style, with finely-delineated dark cherries and hints of bergamot tea mixed with bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins. Quite a polished Beaune Grèves, there is a sumptuousness to this wine with a lightly spiced finish, though it doesn't quite have the complexity or mineralité of its peers. I've had better bottles. Decanter 96 (10/2023): The 2022 Baby Jesus is a wine of gorgeous intensity, with alluringly ripe aromas of blackberry and plum with notes of peony and spice. The forward fruits continue on the palate as intensely sweet and silky, with a density and grip that are only apparent with time. The grapes are from nearly four hectares of vines, although only the oldest vines and most concentrated fruit are used for this bottling, with some declassified into Beaune du Château. This wine will open in five to seven years and should easily drink for 30 more after the harvest. (Drink between 2027-2055),
JM 93-95 (10/2023): More crimson than purple, with notably more presence than the other Beaunes. A range of fruits finishing with some black cherry after the dark red berries, a heightened intensity of fruit, with an excellent balance between tannin and acidity, and notable length. Not racked but has retained purity.
BH 91-94 (4/2024): A slightly riper but brooding nose only grudgingly reveals it aromas of dark berries, earth and a whiff of leather. The noticeably denser medium-bodied flavors are at once caressing but powerful with both mouthcoating sap and tannins on the robust, serious and built-to-age finish. This excellent effort also always needs time in bottle and 2022 will again be no different. (Drink starting 2034). |

This seamless, stylish wine boasts strong soil tones and an inviting, very smooth finish. A beauty--and perhaps deceptively accessible today.

It has a very attractive bouquet with abundant red cherry and wild strawberry scents that are very well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, velvety smooth in the mouth with pure redcurrant and strawberry fruit. The oak is a little conspicuous at the moment (around 35% new) but it is very well assimilated on the finish. This is a well-crafted Corton. |

JS 94-95 (2/2018): The chalky and stony notes are intermingled with pastry and red to dark cherries, all leading to a palate that shows good acidity, impressive depth and weight of tannins. A cool vintage expression with more intensity at the finish. This will age very well. Try from 2024.
BH 93-95 (4/2018): Very, very generous wood treatment is sufficiently toasty to presently dominate the otherwise layered nose of dark cherry, raspberry, earth and sauvage-inflected aromas. There is superb concentration, power and richness to the big-bodied flavors that possess excellent reserves of dry extract that helps to buffer the exceptionally firm tannic spine shaping the superbly long mineral-driven finish. VM 92-95 (1/2018): (these high-altitude vines produced a normal crop in 2016): Moderately saturated dark red. Sexy if slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, tarte au prune and game, with some new oak showing. Very rich, dense and pliant, conveying a distinctly relaxed quality for the vintage. This plump, large-scaled grand cru finishes with superb restrained sweetness, noteworthy finesse of tannins, and serious building length, with its lightly saline black raspberry fruit complemented by an almost chocolatey ripeness. There is both excellent volume and precision to the delicious, sophisticated and energetic medium-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity before concluding in a gorgeously complex and persistent finish. This is pretty much textbook Les Cailles though one that is also clearly in need of extended cellaring. Drink 2031+. Don't miss! Outstanding!

That said, I'm not sure that it's necessarily going to improve dramatically from here even though the aromatic profile will certainly become more mature and perhaps more complex as well. BH 92 (4/2008): A bit surprisingly, this is even more elegant than the Suchots with a pure and gorgeously spicy nose that features notes of hoisin, clove, cinnamon and soy that complements perfectly the supple, refined and focused medium-bodied flavors that possess a sleek muscularity on the strikingly long finish. This is a beautifully seductive effort that actually is slightly longer than the Suchots but doesn't quite have the same level of dry extract. A choice. Drink 2014+. Outstanding!
VM 90-92 (4/2008): Good dark red. Hints of smoke and licorice on the rather laid-back but wild nose. Round, rich and deep, showing more weight but less early sex appeal than the Suchots. Best today on the lush, expanding back end, which features roast coffee and underbrush nuances and suggestions of very ripe fruit. This is still a baby. Prost notes that the berries here are always very ripe, but that the Suchots fruit comes in with firmer skins and normally makes a fresher style of wine. The Malconsorts, he says, shows deeper earth tones.
WA 89 (12/2009): The Bouchard 2006 Vosne-Romanee Les Malconsorts emphasizes the bitter side of bitter-sweet black fruits and herbs, which mingle with meat stock on a firm and for the vintage surprisingly substantial palate. Here is another slightly austere but impressively persistent Pinot in the present collection, and one that deserves to be revisited in 2010. I suspect it will merit following for 5-6 years. |

VM 95-97 (12/2021): The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru, which was undergoing its élevage in foudres, has a very sophisticated bouquet with mineral-rich citrus fruit, hints of hazelnut and lanolin. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. There is a little more density and concentration compared to the regular Chevalier-Montrachet and though there is a patina of oak to be subsumed, this will surely age with style. Excellent. | BH 91 (10/2020): Hints of matchstick and exotic tea add breadth to the ripe, pure and pretty floral and poached pear-scented nose that is trimmed in just enough wood to comment on. The elegant middle weight flavors possess a lilting mouthfeel before concluding in a lightly stony, sleek, focused and persistent finish that gradually reveals just a touch of sweetness. This is particularly fine though it will need to develop more depth to merit its rating so do hold it for at least a few years. (Drink starting 2024). |

| VM 92-94 (12/2020): A blend of two parcels, the 2019 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru was the first to be picked by Bouchard in this appellation. The well-defined bouquet features touches of lemon thyme, walnut and smoke. The palate is balanced with fine acidity, fresh and focused. The pretty, apricot-tinged finish fans out wonderfully and leaves residues of grilled almond and sesame on the aftertaste. Excellent. Neal Martin. |

VM 92-94 (11/2021): Fine lemon and lime colour, with a detailed elegant bouquet and a sense of class all the way through to a slightly richer bouquet. The Bouchard 2020 Genevrières certainly has the detail, with a mix of white fruits, a little apple and also some citrus. A fine Genevrières for the medium term.
BH 91-93 (6/2022): A ripe and naturally exotic nose features notes of Asian-style tea, anise, white peach and a whiff of fennel. The relatively generously proportioned medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the very dry and youthfully austere finish that also possesses a touch of bitter citrus character. Lovely juice and this is really quite classy. Drink 2028+. |

BH 91 (10/2024): Moderate though also easily detectible wood is present on the nose of iodine, white flowers and a hint of oyster shell. The markedly finer middleweight flavors exude evident minerality that adds a sense of lift to the balanced, nicely dry and impressively long finish that displays the natural class of a fine MdT. As with many of these 2022s, it could use more depth but the style is lovely and understated. Drink starting 2030.
VM 89 (8/2024): The 2022 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a fresh nose with grass clippings and Granny Smiths on the nose - a traditional Chablis nose that is well-defined and quite complex. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, taut and fresh, although I would have liked more mineralité on the finish. Almost there… but not quite! Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. BH 96 (6/2024): (from Aloxe.) A markedly floral-suffused nose somewhat grudgingly reveals its array of exuberantly fresh and spicy Granny Smith apple, acacia blossom, oyster shell and iodine. While there is certainly good richness to the succulent and seductive broad-shouldered flavors, the mouthfeel is really quite sleek with both good detail and power to the taut, serious and built-to-age finale that is given a bit of lift from the presence of bitter citrus rind. This is almost painfully intense and youthfully austere effort could use better depth but that should present no particular problem if it's given a chance to develop. This too is first-rate. Drink 2034+. Don't miss!
VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend of fruit from Aloxe-Corton (75%) and Pernand-Vergelesses (25%), a combination that works well in giving the wine balance. There's quite a bit of phenolic intensity and youthful austerity here. Herbs, crushed rocks, graphite, mint and citrus confit build nicely. I very much admire the vibrancy here, even if the 2022 remains a bit unyielding today. Neal Martin. |

BH 89 (6/2024): A vague whiff of the exotic lurks in the background in the form of orange peel, pear compote and a hint of wet stone reduction. There is both excellent volume and density to the delicious middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the balanced, clean and dry finale. VM 90-92 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault is a rich, opulent white. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and crushed rocks are all amplified. Clean mineral notes extend the finish while also providing a counterpoint to all the textural richness. The Meursault is a blend of parcels (including En Luraule, Petits Charrons, Casse-Têtes, Les Pelles), all estate, high up on the slope. The 25% new oak is nicely judged. Neal Martin. |

BH 92 (6/2024): There is a touch of post-bottling reduction present but I doubt it will last as the underlying fruit seems ripe. As one would expect from a classic example of Poruzots, there is excellent volume and power to the big bodied flavors that are at once dense and serious before culminating in a robust, muscular and impressively long finale. This won't wow you with its finesse but then again, that's not why one buys Poruzots. Drink 2030+. Outstanding!
VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru marries fruit intensity with drive. It’s a combination that works so well here. VM 93+ (6/2026): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet of beeswax, chai, Mirabelle and crushed stone that unfolds in the glass. The palate is fresh and edgy on the entry, with quite a keen, tensile line of acidity and a slightly pithy finish. There is a sense of completeness to this Champs Canet that is endearing. Recommended. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2027-2049). Neal Martin.
BH 91 (6/2025): A discreet application of wood sets off cool and layered aromas of the essence of white orchard fruit, citrus confit and acacia blossom. There is again fine richness to the medium-bodied and caressing flavors that retain good detail on the mineral-driven and focused finish that delivers sneaky good length. This isn't exactly chiseled but it's close and a wine that should repay up to a decade of keeping. (Drink starting 2029).
WA 90 (1/2025): Offering up aromas of pear, pineapple and freshly baked bread, the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet is medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a rich, fleshy core of fruit and an ample, demonstrative profile. |

VM 93+ (8/2024): The 2022 Chablis Fôrets 1er Cru was promising from barrel last year. Now, in bottle, it has held on to that complex, mineral-led bouquet, with hints of chamomile in the background. The palate is very well balanced with a silver thread of acidity, like the Montée de Tonnerre. Quite understated towards the finish, suggesting that this will benefit from a few years in bottle. Plenty of energy, but patience required. Neal Martin.
BH 93 (10/2024): There is ample citrus influence suffusing the nose that could be from nowhere else but Chablis with its array of seashore, algae and oyster shell scents. The caressing but notably denser and more powerful larger-bodied flavors coat the palate while retaining an attractive texture on the strikingly persistent finish that is shaped by bright acidity. This can't match the MdT for refinement but it is presently more complex and should age just as well. |

JM 92 (3/2024): This is a substantial cuvée of 120,000 bottles, made in barrel except for the schist and clay components. Overall, 60% is in wood, of which 25% is new. The wood element is taken out of barrel in the summer, kept on lees, then all assembled after the harvest without lees, and bottled in December. Clear mid yellow. There is useful tension here along with the flesh of a fine Pouilly-Fuissé in a good vintage. Touch of vanilla from the wood, excellent length. Fine keeping potential. 13.5%
BH 90 (10/2024): A touch of phenolic character is present on the lightly wood nose of mineral reduction, acacia and essence of pear. The sleek, delicious and vibrant, if not super-dense, flavors are rich to the point of opulence while displaying fine power on the bitter lemon rind-inflected finale where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This should drink well young but also drink well with a few years of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028).
VM 90 (8/2024): The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cuvée is raised 60% in oak barrels and the rest in tank, bottled at the end of 2023. This cuvée includes some Premier Crus, including Combettes, which were not bottled separately this year. It has a winsome nose with mint-tinged citrus fruit that opens with gusto in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fresh entry. It's spicy with stem ginger and lemongrass towards the lively finish. Maybe it is not the most refined Pouilly-Fuissé, but there is commendable energy in the context of the growing season. (Drink between 2025-2034). Neal Martin. |

BH 89 (6/2024): A more complex nose features notes of citrus confit, green apple and a floral top note along with just enough wood to notice. There is excellent concentration to the sappy and very rich yet focused medium weight flavors that possess a plush mouthfeel, all wrapped in a chalky, youthfully austere and lightly stony finale where a touch of warmth slowly emerges. This well-made effort should repay 2 to 3 years of keeping. (Drink starting 2026). |

In a sense, it represents the wine that was sacrificed so that the rest of the range can be exceptional. |

The palate is taut and fresh, with very fine tension. VM 91-93 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet with green apple, nectarine, and subtle wet pavement scents, quite generous in style with a hint of praline. The palate is taut and fresh, with very fine tension. It is one of the most citric cuvées from Sauzet with a flinty, slightly reductive finish, suggesting it will require a couple of years in a bottle. (Drink between 2026-2040). Neal Martin. |

BH 95 (6/2024): A ripe yet distinctly cool nose combines notes of citrus confit, spice, Granny Smith apple, white peach and an all but invisible application of wood. The super-sleek but almost painfully intense larger-bodied flavors possess a mouthfeel that is akin to rolling rocks around the mouth on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and compact, indeed very tautly wound, finale that goes on and on. This is terrific and as good a vintage for this wine as I have seen since the 2015 when they began declaring it as Musigny Blanc again. It won't be easy to find but this is one to strongly consider. Drink 2034+.
JM 94-96 (11/2023): Bottled end October. Fine pale lemon colour with a definite green tint. Tense powerful crisp fruit, the crunchy side of orchard fruit, then builds in richness to the back, before rediscovering its minerality to finish. Notably persistent, I can see the point in Musigny Blanc more easily than I used to! |

There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |
