VM 95 (5/2011): The 2008 Bonnes Mares is totally classy and elegant. It shows gorgeous inner liqueur-like sweetness, expressive aromatics and a rich, textured finish that is a marvel to behold. The sheer depth, density and incisiveness of the fruit is fabulous. Expressive floral notes round out the finish. This is very much an understated Bonnes Mares from de Vogüe. Antonio Galloni. WA 95 (5/2011): The 2008 Bonnes Mares is totally classy and elegant. It shows gorgeous inner liqueur-like sweetness, expressive aromatics and a rich, textured finish that is a marvel to behold. The sheer depth, density and incisiveness of the fruit is fabulous. Expressive floral notes round out the finish. This is very much an understated Bonnes Mares from de Vogue. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2048. BH 94 (1/2011): A more deeply pitched nose of cool and reserved red and black cherry aromas that are quite fresh and pure and are laced more with warm earth than stone though both are present. The focused and detailed broad-shouldered flavors are blessed with ample dry extract that cuts a bit of the austerity on the linear, serious, mouth coating and hugely long finish. As is often the case, this is still quite primary and will need plenty of time to unwind. Drink: 2023+ VM 93 (4/2011): Deep red. Briary raspberry, blueberry, mocha and menthol on the nose, lifted by peppery spices; a real essence of this grand cru. Then creamier and larger-scaled than the Chambolle premier cru, with the sweet berry fruit flavors enlivened by the peppery component and savory soil tones on the back. This really tickles the taste buds on the broad, firmly tannic, very long finish. Steph |

| BH 92 (1/2014): A strikingly well-layered nose displays notes of dark berry fruit, flowers, spice and earth scents. There is fine richness to the round and again quite voluminous middle weight plus flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in muscular finish that displays excellent persistence. This is relatively refined in the context of what is typically a robust appellation thanks to the very fine grain of the supporting structure. Drink 2026+. |

BH 94 (1/2017): (from a 2.67 ha parcel situated entirely in terres rouges soil in the south-west portion of the vineyard.) Deep ruby. A completely different aromatic profile is present with its much earthier array of notably fresh red berries and discreet sauvage aromas where a touch of elegance is provided by notes of violet and lilac. There is excellent richness to the muscular and full-bodied flavors that also possess fine mid-palate concentration that coats the mouth and helps to buffer the very firm tannic spine on the seamlessly proportioned finale. This very firmly structured effort is clearly going to require 15 to 20 years to arrive at its peak. Drink 2029+. VM 93+ (3/2017): Good dark red. Musky, soil-driven aromas of dark cherry, sappy pomegranate, wild herbs and brown spices. Densely packed and silky but with excellent definition and energy to its dark berry, menthol, dark chocolate and herb flavors. Much broader than the Chambolle 1er Cru but also less evolved. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and terrific length. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 92-94 (1/2019): The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a not dissimilar bouquet to the Les Amoureuses, though here there is slightly more red fruit and perhaps a heightened sense of Pinote. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grippy tannin, good backbone (as usual) and a saline influence that becomes more accentuated toward the fresh finish. This feels a little tight-lipped at the moment compared to others tasted from barrel, but it also feels persistent and, for want of a better word, enigmatic. Neal Martin. BH 91-94 (1/2019): (from a 2.67 ha parcel situated entirely in terres rouges soil in the south-west portion of the vineyard.) A very ripe yet agreeably fresh nose reflects notes of blue berry, plum liqueur and violet that are cut with spice and earth hints. The exceptionally rich and impressively full-bodied flavors evidence a taut muscularity, all wrapped in an overtly powerful and lingering finish that is naturally sweet. As one would reasonably expect this is quite firm but the 2017 version appears to be a bit less structured than it usually is. Drink 2029+. |

| BH 93-95 (1/2021): (from a 2.67 ha parcel situated entirely in terres rouges soil in the far southern portion of the vineyard.) A riper and more restrained nose requires some swirling to reveal its aromas of plum liqueur, blue berry, earth and a more restricted range of spice elements. The bigger and richer flavors possess an opulent richness and a velvety texture that coats the palate and enrobes the firmer tannic spine shaping the powerful, tautly muscular and strikingly persistent finale. This offers a completely different expression compared to the Amoureuses but one that is equally interesting. This too possesses superb development potential though patience definitely advised. Drink 2039+. Don't miss! |

BH 94 (1/2023): A slightly riper nose reflects the classic blue berry fruit of a fine Bonnes Mares along with hints of cassis, earth and violet. The sleek, intense and much more imposingly scaled flavors possess even better mid-palate concentration while delivering superb length on the saline-inflected and very firm finish which really fans out as it sits on the palate. This is a BM that I wouldn't even think about opening before it's at least a decade old. (Drink starting 2038). VM 91 (10/2024): The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a richer, more opulent nose, what feels like a later-picked wine, and consequently, it doesn't quite possess the delineation of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black cherries and bilberry fruit. There is a sapidity here, though not as much as Vougeraie's Bonnes-Mares. And yet, it is well-defined with a slightly granular finish. There is a potentially excellent wine here; however, there is some oxidation. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

JM 93-95 (11/2022): 50% whole bunch. A medium deep purple with a lovely perfume, some darker fruit, actually quite sensual. A middling weight of deep sensual fruit then a much livelier finish, some citrus notes, with a finish which is entirely in red fruit. Very persistent indeed. The de Vogüé holding is on the red Bonnes Mares soil with some depth, but the wine is lively and with a white pepper finish. Drink from 2028-2035. VM 92-94 (1/2023): The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, their only vineyard on the north side of Chambolle, includes around 50% whole bunches this year. The stems are discretely enmeshed, present, but allow the fruit and terroir to speak. I admire the freshness and joie-de-vivre here. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, vivid black cherry fruit laced with orange zest/blood orange towards its energetic finish. Bon vin. Neal Martin. BH 91-94 (1/2023): A much more deeply pitched and more floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of blue berries, anise and a subtle touch of earth. I very much like the seductive mid-palate texture of the vibrant medium weight flavors that display excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This is perhaps on the lighter side in the context of what is typical for Bonnes Mares, but it possess excellent flavor authority and fine length Drink 2033+. |

JM 97 (11/2023): In bottle. Made as three cuvees, then assembled. A rich mid purple with a deliciously heady bouquet, the sumptuous side of dark raspberry, perfumed yet precise, purple fruit with some redder layers beneath, a little white pepper spice, multiple layers of fruit, very engaging with just a very slight youthful bitterness. Irreproachable. BH 94 (1/2024): An even spicier and more floral-suffused nose is comprised mostly by blue pinot fruit and discreet earth wisps. The succulent, refined and vibrant medium-bodied flavors aren't especially concentrated though they do possess impressive power on the beautifully long and equally well-balanced finale. This is a wine that is certainly built to repay extended keeping but it's not so compact that it couldn't be reasonably approached after only 5 to 7 years. |

JM 89-91 (11/2022): The fruit comes from a large block of Les Porlottes plus the two 1ers crus, Baudes and Fuées. A fine bright mid purple, noticeably reductive. Very intense red fruit, strict up the front. Strict and lively, all in pure fresh red fruit. Promising. All destemmed. Drink from 2026-2032. BH 89-91 (1/2023): A perfumed and nicely spicy nose blends notes of red berries, plum and a touch of violet. The sleek, intense and well-detailed middleweight flavors exude a discreet bead of minerality on the refreshing, moderately austere and sufficiently firm finale to warrant up to a decade of keeping. This very pretty effort will likely be approachable after only 5 or so years of keeping. Drink 2029+. VM 88-90 (1/2023): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes mainly from a large parcel in Porlettes with 10% from Les Fuées and Baudes. This was co-fermented instead of blended at the end of the barrel maturation; that was the modus operandi under François Millet. It is the only cuvée that does not include whole clusters. It has a clean and precise bouquet with dark cherries, hints of iodine and iris flower. The palate is tensile and light, well focused with an understated, open blackberry and raspberry finish, a touch of black pepper on the aftertaste. Fine. Neal Martin. |

JM 93 (11/2023): In bottle since end October. Mostly from Les Porlottes, which is higher and cooler and the last to be picked, plus also the small holdings of 1ers crus Baudes and Fuées. A glowing purple with quite a dark centre. Fully ripe but not unduly heady dark raspberry fruit, with a fine concentration of fruit. Dark notes include bilberries but also an excellent mineral freshness. Fine length, a very fine example. BH 90 (1/2024): A ripe and attractively fresh nose combines notes of various dark berries and plum with those of violet and soft spice nuances. I very much like the sophisticated texture to the punchy and succulent middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the balanced, firm, chalky and lingering finish. Lovely and understated. Drink 2030+. |

BH 94 (5/2008): 94 at its best. I have had this wine many times and it has always been one of my favorite '91s. Unfortunately, a number of bottles tasted within the last 3 years were already on the decline, having lost that wonderful velvety quality that I once so much admired. While not unpleasant, it's clear that these bottles are not what they should be as there is a toastiness that comes up on the finish and renders it ever so slightly bitter. However, a bottle tasted in Los Angeles that was air freighted from the Domaine only 3 weeks prior was simply Outstanding with a wonderful nose of exotic spices and subtle yet seductive game and smoky hints followed by rich, warm and pure flavors of superb depth and length with plenty of finishing velvet. As the note suggests, I have encountered significant bottle variation with scores ranging from 87 to 94. Drink now. WA 93 (12/1993): Wealthy collectors should not miss the opportunity to see whether the 1991 equals or surpasses the 1990 Musigny-Vieilles Vignes made at the Comte de Vogue. The saturated, dense purple color is magnificent. The big, yet unformed bouquet of framboise, cassis, vanillin, and minerals suggests the wine is loaded. It is. Powerful, rich, concentrated, and marvelously clean and pure, this irrefutably impressively endowed, large-scaled red burgundy exhibits a Medoc-like austerity and structure, as well as a squeaky clean, international style. It will be interesting to see what develops over the next 15-20 years. Do not drink it before the turn of the century; it should last an uncommonly long time for modern day burgundy. Very impressive! |

VM 97 (3/2018): (tasted from a 375-milliter bottle): Very bright red with ruby tones; looks like a young wine. Deep, dark red and black fruit aromas are complicated by cinnamon, black pepper, roast coffee and a hint of truffley underbrush. Wonderfully rich but classy and reserved, and not a bit heavy. Utterly silky, plush, energetic wine with a relaxed quality to its lively dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes classically dry, with beautifully buffered tannins and captivating building sweetness. Amazingly, this 375-milliliter bottle seems still short of its peak, so I would imagine that well-stored 750s still need time. I'd guess 2022-2042 for 750s. Stephen Tanzer. BH 94 (1/2002): In contrast to the general style of the vintage, this is aromatically austere though with coaxing, reveals wonderfully complex aromas of a simply incredible array of black fruits, earth, spice, crushed herbs and notes of chocolate with flavors that are huge but fine, powerful but subtle and rich yet detailed with a stupendously long finish that offers intense minerality. This is genuinely stunning juice and not to be missed. Drink 2010-2025. |

BH 93 (10/2005): Extravagant, very ripe spice aromas explode from the glass with remarkable complexity that frame superbly elegant, gorgeously textured flavors that are intense and vibrant. This is really quite powerful for the vintage and incredibly long yet remains classy and fine. It is not especially big or dense as de Vogüe Musigny goes but is tautly muscular and defined. Extremely impressive for the vintage. Drink 2010+. WA 93 (6/2003): There is an enthralling sappy richness to the floral and blackberry-scented 2000 Musigny. Supremely elegant, it is not quite as dense as the 2001 yet reveals Outstanding depth, purity, and concentration. Lush, stony red and black fruits are interspersed with violets and tangy raspberries in its exceptionally long, expressive, plump character. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012. VM 92+ (4/2003): Saturated dark red. Deep, nuanced nose combines dark fruits, minerals and underbrush. Sweet and highly concentrated but tight and backward, even a bit sullen today; fruit and stone flavors are quite primary for the vintage. Finishes with substantial broad tannins and very good grip. May ultimately merit an even higher rating. |

BH 96 (1/2007): This is also very cool and even more reserved at present, revealing only reluctant glimpses of very ripe and ultra spicy red and black berry fruit notes that are very pinot in character. The rich, full and powerful flavors are sweet, supple and utterly classy and the intensity this wine displays is seriously impressive and the superbly long and strikingly precise finish is crystalline in its purity and exactness. There is a rigorous element here that suggests this will require the better part of 15 years to be at its best but when it gets there, this is going to be a thrill ride. Readers know that I am not given to undue hyperbole but I love this style of wine as it's at once pure, understated, graceful and utterly composed. Drink 2019+. VM 95+ (4/2007): Good deep red. Ineffable aromas of raspberry, crushed stone and flowers. Like liquid silk on entry, then quite tightly wound in the middle, offering great purity and nerve but hiding more than it's showing in the way of flavor today. This has a nearly frightful intensity and superb stony persistence. Due to hail in late August, the yield here was just 20 hectoliters per hectare, compared to 25 in 2005, according to Millet. A highlight of the vintage. When I asked Millet to compare his 2004s to his 2001s, he told me that the acidity in the spine of the 2004s is barely tasteable, as the minerality of the wine dominates. "In comparison, the 2001s are gaining in sensuality and elegance," he said. "But their fresh fruit flavors are still fighting their acidity." |

BH 99 (1/2008): Prepare to be transported. A positively brilliant nose of violet and rose petal shines against a background of intensely spiced extravagant red and black pinot fruit nuanced by hints of earth and stone and this minerality continues onto the surprisingly supple flavors that convey a remarkable sense of energy and power on the almost unbelievably intense, focused and structured finish that seems to go on and on without end. And the '05 VV has what all truly great burgundies have which is that extra dimension of power without weight as this carries terrific punch and power yet delivers that explosiveness with impeccable class and grace. While I am duly mindful of the many legendary wines this domaine has produced (see the database for all vintages reviewed dating to 1919), the 2005 could very well join the list of the all time greats, there is really that much potential here. Whether it will ultimately transcend the heights achieved by the 1919 or the 1949 (among many others) remains an open question, I have zero doubt that 2005 will be a genuinely great vintage for this wine. Brilliance personified and absolutely a 'wow' wine, in fact, this merits a double 'wow'. WA 96-98 (4/2007): My notes on the 2005 Musigny Vieilles Vignes represent a composite impression from a selection of barrels. There can be little question that this deep, dark wine displays its class of origin, indeed a class of its own in this year’s collection. Fresh black raspberry, pomegranate, blackberry, and iris dominate the nose and stain the palate. A wealth of spice, mineral, chalky and bitter-sweet floral nuances persistently wreath the fruit at all stages. This shows lovely creaminess of texture in counterpoint to the persistent freshness of fruit. The intensely rich yet refreshing palate saturation and tenacious cling exhibited auger well for extended cellaring yet don’t detract from an impression of utmost elegance and refinement. The domaine will begin bottling the wines in spring and all will, as usual, receive “the minimum, gentlest possible" filtration. Francois Millet notes that skin-to-juice ratios this year were as formidably high as those of 2003, yet thanks to relatively mild temperatures, the fruit retained what he terms a “sorbet-like presentation." |

WA 97 (4/2012): The 2009 Musigny Vieilles Vignes fleshes out beautifully with endless layers of fruit that caress the palate in stunning style. Sweet floral notes meld into expressive dark red fruit in this mysterious, evocative Burgundy. There is a weightless intensity to the Musigny that is achingly gorgeous. BH 96 (1/2012): A fantastically complex nose offers up aromas of rose petals, violets, mint, cassis, black berry and a plethora of spice nuances that continue onto the intense and remarkably powerful imposingly constructed flavors that are blessed with buckets of dry extract that render the presently rigid tannic spine almost invisible on the impeccably and palate staining finish that seems to persist without end. As was the case from cask, I could still taste this several hours later and if given sufficient cellar time, this should be a very fine vintage for this storied wine. Drink 2029+. VM 95+ (4/2012): Good bright, deep red. Raspberry liqueur, crushed rock and vanillin oak on the suave, subdued nose; shows the greatest lift of these 2009s. Superconcentrated and creamy but light on its feet, displaying terrific energy and sappiness for 2009. Gained in verve with aeration, with high-pitched, tangy flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, flowers and minerals spreading out to saturate the mouth. With its finishing perfume and taste of limestone, this really transcends the vintage. |

VM 95+ (4/2014): Deep, dark red. An elixir of dark berries on the nose, with complicating notes of crushed stone, menthol and flowers. Thick but weightless and youthfully imploded, with an element of spicy acidity giving Outstanding cut and primary character to the blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors. Finishes dense and strong, with powerful tannic support and late hints of espresso and bitter chocolate. Fully ripe in the context of the vintage, and built for an extended evolution in bottle. BH 94 (1/2014): A remarkably attractively cool and restrained nose of various red berries, spice and a beautiful array of floral elements complements well the rich and equally cool mineral-tinged big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors. There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension on the clean and pure finish that delivers strikingly good length. This intensely mineral-driven effort is also clean and firm but with slightly better phenolic maturity to the supporting structural elements which should allow this beauty to age successfully for many years to come. Drink 2029+. WA 92 (8/2013): The 2011 Musigny Vieille Vignes Grand Cru was picked around mid-harvest during the first week of September. It has a more floral bouquet compared to the Bonnes-Mares with scents of dried rose petals and a touch of violet infusing the dark cherry and pomegranate fruit profile. The palate is supple in texture, lithe in the mouth with fine tannins, much more feminine than the Bonnes-Mares (usually I find it the other way round.) The mouth is tingling with salted licorice and white pepper on the aftertaste. Impressive for sure, but I need it to show a bit of soul. Drink 2015-2025. |

VM 96+ (3/2016): Very dark bright red. Great purity and lift to the aromas of black cherry, violet, graphite, bitter chocolate and minerals. Showing less obvious density today than the Bonnes-Mares but this is extremely tight and unevolved, with its saline crushed stone and mineral elements currently dominating its underlying fruit. The yield was just 20 hectoliters per hectare, due in large part to millerandage, but this extremely imploded Musigny is showing little of the early sweetness one might expect from tiny berries. Finishes with outstanding flavor authority, length and grip. This wine should go on for decades. Stephen Tanzer. BH 96 (1/2016): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha parcel planted to chardonnay.) This is also quite aromatically restrained with its cool, airy and extraordinarily complex nose that features notes of red raspberry, black cherry, violet, rose petal, Asian-style spices, in particular cinnamon and anise plus a hint of orange pekoe tea. There is superb concentration to the intensely stony and well-delineated broad-shouldered flavors that also brim with palate soaking dry extract that helps to buffer that imposingly powerful, tautly muscular and massively long and youthfully austere finish. This is breathtaking in just how much power and intensity it packs yet there isn't a hair out of place. In a word, 'wow'! Drink 2033+. |

VM 95+ (3/2017): Bright, dark red. Knockout nose offers most of the Musigny food groups: raspberry, cherry, earth, wild herbs, flowers and minerals, plus a leathery nuance. Pungent and extremely intense but utterly weightless owing to its near-perfect balance of sweetness and juiciness. Best today on the explosive, building back end, which offers a powerfully chewy, sappy impression but no rough edges. Winemaker François Millet suggests waiting at least 10 to 15 years. Stephen Tanzer. BH 95 (1/2017): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha parcel planted to chardonnay.) While highly complex this is cool to the point of only grudgingly revealing a strikingly layered combination of violets, rose petals, sandalwood, anise, clove, plum and dark currant scents. This is a big and overtly muscular wine with broad-shouldered and admirably concentrated flavors yet for all of the impressive size, weight and volume, the massively long finish is serene, even Zen-like. 2014 is a relatively seductive and forward vintage for this storied wine, and I appreciate that calling a wine "forward" when it will likely need 20 years to fully mature is a relative concept! BH 95-98 (1/2017): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha parcel planted to chardonnay.) Like the Amoureuses this too is kaleidoscopically spicy with its broad-ranging nose of red cherry, cassis, plum, violet, Asian-style tea, sandalwood and hoisin. The velvety and mouth coating imposingly-scaled and intense mineral-driven flavors are also blessed with seemingly endless reserves of dry extract that coat the palate on the highly seductive finish that delivers fantastically good length on the youthfully austere, backward and immaculately well-balanced finale. This too is going to require a very long snooze in a very cool cellar but it should be a remarkable Musigny when it emerges. Drink 2035+. Don't miss! VM 94-97 (1/2017): Bright ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and bitter chocolate are lifted by the most pungent minerality of this range. Combines compelling sweetness and density, but with a finesse of texture that gives this wine an improbably light touch. Remarkably dense but reserved wine, with purple berry liqueur and mineral flavors conveying terrific lift. Easily the best of these 2015s, finishing with a juicy whiplash of flavor. Here the tannins arrive very late and are perfectly integrated with the wine's fruit and soil elements. Still, this vibrant wine is extremely backward and unevolved in the early going and will require long aging. Winemaker François Millet expects to do a very light fining at the bottling. Stephen Tanzer. WA 95-97 (12/2016): The 2015 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is initially more introspective compared to the Bonnes-Mares. Predominantly black fruit here with blueberry developing in the glass, there is a slight earthiness in character that shimmies towards floral scents as it opens. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and more salinity than then Bonnes Mares or the Chambolle-Musigny les Amoureuses. It feels crunchy and fresh in the mouth with plenty of blueberry and blackberry towards the long and persistent finish. This is an Outstanding Musigny Vieilles Vignes of substance that will age over 30-40 years. |

VM 94-96 (1/2019): The 2017 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a very expressive, complex bouquet, the melange of red, blue and black fruit making it difficult to identify a single dominant color. Blueberry, wild strawberry and black currant intermingle, and hints of sea spray and touches of orange blossom develop with time. The harmonious, silky palate is almost like a Romanee-Saint-Vivant in texture, offering great depth and an energetic, peppery finish that lingers long in the mouth. A divine Musigny that will deserve some bottle age. Neal Martin. BH 93-96 (1/2019): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha section planted to chardonnay.) An openly exotic nose offers glimpses of black cherry liqueur, ginger, Asian-style tea, sandalwood and orange peel. The tighter and much more mineral-driven big-bodied flavors also possess evident muscle on the powerful and dense yet beautifully refined finish that goes on and on. This is also a bit less structured though with that said, this is going to need at least 15 years to reach its apogee. In a word, terrific. Drink 2032+. Don't miss! |

BH 97 (1/2021): A ripe and super-fresh nose offers up notes of black raspberry, plum liqueur, Asian-style tea and a whiff of incense. The racy, intense and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors retain outstanding delineation as well as an abundance of palate soaking dry extract before delivering stunningly good length where an interesting hint of citrus character in the form of mandarin orange appears. This incredibly powerful effort is both classy and highly complex and like the Bonnes Mares, is a wine that will live for decades. With that said, it's not so backward and compact to preclude it being approachable after only 10 to 12 years. A knockout by any standard. VM 92 (11/2022): The 2018 Musigny Grand Cru is bold and assertive on the nose with darker fruit than Mugnier's Musigny: dense and focused, fine delineation yet just missing the little complexity. The palate is framed by thickset, bold and saturated tannins, a mixture of red and blue fruit, grippy and assertive. There is a heaviness in this Musigny not apparent in three others tasted alongside, a bit burly and demonstrative. But you have to ask, where is the charm. | BH 95-98 (1/2022): (from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn't include the .67 ha section planted to chardonnay.) As is often the case, this is aromatically similar to the Chambolle 1er but it's less expressive and perhaps more densely fruited. There is notably better mid-palate concentration to the substantially sized big-bodied flavors that also possess a positively gorgeous mouthfeel while exuding an abundance of mineral character on the hugely long and impeccably well-balanced and youthfully austere finale. This Zen-like effort is superb and a wine that should also age gracefully over the next two decades. Drink 2040+. Don't miss! |

VM 95-97 (1/2023): The 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru underwent a picked piecemeal from the 30 different plots to find the best order that actually was linked to vine age. It has a gorgeous bouquet with brambly red fruit, loam, blood oranges and subtle graphite aromas. Superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh citrus like acidity, tensile and focused. This is a very classic, mineral-driven Musigny with surfeit of salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. So bright on the finish. Neal Martin. JM 95-97 (11/2022): Three tanks were made, in order of picking, then assembled as there is no terroir logic to them, though this has changed for 2022. A fine bright and reasonably deep purple. Classy with just a touch of pepper. Less immediately compelling that some previous vintages, but it is growing steadily in the glass. There is a huge volume of red and black fruit intertwined with a fresh mineral streak running through the middle, supplying excellent length to complete the job. Splendid stuff! A firmer finish but there is plenty of time for that to resolve. Drink from 2030-2040. BH 92-95 (1/2023): This is compositionally similar to the Chambolle "1er", but the brooding nose only grudgingly displays both notably better complexity and more floral nuances as well a background hint of kirsch. As is always the case, there is markedly more size, weight and density to the bigger-bodied and notably more powerful flavors that conclude in a very backward, compact and even more mineral-driven finish. This is still in need of additional élevage, but it should ultimately be quite impressive. Drink 2036+. |

| BH 86 (6/2014): (from younger vines planted in Musigny where the resulting wine has been declassified). A ripe and expressive nose plays right on the edge of oxidation with its aromas of petrol, floral pear and peach. The round and easy to like middle weight flavors don't possess the distinction that I'm used to seeing or the depth. In sum, I found this to be disappointing given the terroir and generally excellent vintage. I should point out that I have not tasted this before so it's possible that I had a less than pristine bottle though everything appeared to be in appropriate condition. Drubj 2016+. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2023): Aged in four used barrels, the 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Blanc has quite a pithy, honeysuckle and melted wax-scented bouquet, very different from other Chardonnays (sometimes more like a fine Pinot Blanc from Alsace!) The palate is very well balanced with a slight viscosity, lively, spicy with ginger and lemongrass, very feisty on the finish. Lovely. Neal Martin. |

BH 95 (6/2024): A ripe yet distinctly cool nose combines notes of citrus confit, spice, Granny Smith apple, white peach and an all but invisible application of wood. The super-sleek but almost painfully intense larger-bodied flavors possess a mouthfeel that is akin to rolling rocks around the mouth on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and compact, indeed very tautly wound, finale that goes on and on. This is terrific and as good a vintage for this wine as I have seen since the 2015 when they began declaring it as Musigny Blanc again. It won't be easy to find but this is one to strongly consider. Drink 2034+. JM 94-96 (11/2023): Bottled end October. Fine pale lemon colour with a definite green tint. Tense powerful crisp fruit, the crunchy side of orchard fruit, then builds in richness to the back, before rediscovering its minerality to finish. Notably persistent, I can see the point in Musigny Blanc more easily than I used to! |

BH 89-91 (10/2024): Cool and airy aromas include those of Granny Smith apple, citrus rind and ample Chablis character, especially seaweed. The delicious middle weight flavors possess a lovely texture, especially for a villages Chablis, while displaying a subtle materiality on the youthfully austere and lingering finale. Lovely. (Drink starting 2027). JM 88 (6/2025): Bottled in March 2025. Pale lime green. Fresh and chiselled nose, some lime blossom all as minerals, Plenty of energy, not at all too fleshy, backward. BH 90-93 (10/2024): A discreet though easily perceptible dollop of wood sets off overtly floral-suffused aromas of sea breeze and lemon zest. Here too the palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is seductive and delicious with more evident minerality also adding a sense of lift to the balanced, sneaky long and saliva-inducing finale. This is also lovely and worth a look. (Drink starting 2029). JM 91 (6/2025): Bottled in March 2025. Pale colour with a green streak. Not finding much bouquet as yet. Another understated but very refined wine, perhaps the hallmark of biodynamics. The best part is the length of the finish. Drink from 2026-2032. |

BH 91-94 (10/2024): Firm reduction renders an evaluation of the nose impossible today. More interesting are the fresh, impressively dense, especially for the vintage, and powerful larger-scaled flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract on the palate soaking, youthfully austere and tightly wound finale. This is very promising and a wine that should amply repay a decade, perhaps even a bit more, of keeping. (Drink starting 2033). JM 93 (6/2025): In bottle (with a little more to follow). Fairly pale in colour with a powerful but undeveloped bouquet. White fruit with just a hint of greengage. Powerful wine as well on the palate. The finish will doubtless develop even further with age. Drink from 2029-2035. |

Fuller white fruit on the palate, the colour and nose will be cleaned up before bottling. A touch of bacon fat. More complicated to taste today. Given Henri Boillot’s track record I would expect this to be sorted before bottling, and thus to rate higher than today’s verdict. Drink from 2029-2033. |

Meursault Les Criots |
$118.99 |

|
| |
| Decanter 95 (10/2024): Tasted from cask, the delicious Meursault Criots from Pierre Boisson is fresh and lemony, with great balance and precision. Bernard Boisson explained the secrets of the domaine: 'Old vines, old oak, no bâtonnage, and a long maturation.' It's a simple but effective recipe. A hint of stylish reduction and a lively acidity due to the harvest date suit this vintage particularly well. Although the wine will undoubtedly be lovely when bottled, it will be better after five years in the cellar and continue to improve for another decade beyond that. (Drink between 2028-2040) |

Bourgogne Cuvee des Forgets ex-Domaine |
$41.99 |

|
| |
JM 89-91 (12/2024): To bottle in the New Year. A fine mid lemon yellow with an engaging generosity of fruit already apparent on the nose. The Javilliers have manged to harness freshness with ripeness in a most engaging fashion. Apple and plum fruit throughout, with a fine long finish. Drink from 2026-2029. BH 87 (6/2025): Smoky aromas include those of apple, pear and a pretty floral top note. There is fine density, particularly in the context of the 2023 vintage, to the attractively textured and punchy flavors that conclude in a supple and lingering finish that is perhaps a bit less dry than usual. Even so, this is lovely and worth considering. (Drink starting 2026). VM 87 (3/2025): The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Cuvée des Forgets has a light grass clipping- and apple blossom-scented nose. The palate is fresh with admirable weight, more expressive than the aromatics at the moment, with citrus peel and a hint of apricot on the finish. Drink over the next five years. (Drink between 2025-2030). Neal Martin. |

Bourgogne Cuvee Oligocene ex-Domaine |
$39.99 |

|
| |
VM 89 (3/2025): The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Cuvée Oligocène has a little more evidence of oak on the nose and a touch more yellow fruit than the Cuvée des Forgets. The palate is fresh and lively, mixing citrus lemon with orange rind and a dash of lemongrass towards the finish. Great value as always, this comes recommended. (Drink between 2025-2032). Neal Martin. JM 89 (12/2024): Bottled end November. A slightly paler lemon yellow. Oligocene proposes a more cerebral aspect after the joyous Forgets. Ther is still an excellent concentration of ripe fruit, with a clear limestone backbone. Very good tension here with some lime notes as well as ripe lemon. Balanced and classy. Drink from 2026-2029. BH 87 (6/2025): A more layered nose is comprised by notes of petrol, various white orchard fruit, acacia and a whiff of citrus confit. There is a bit more volume to the vibrant and utterly delicious middle weight flavors that retain a fine sense of detail on the drier, longer and more complex finale. This is an excellent Bourgogne and warmly recommended. (Drink starting 2027). |

JM 94-96 (10/2024): Only recently racked. An even mid lemon. The nose offers stones up front. The palate a wealth of concentrated white fruit supported by a little oak, and while the detail is not forthcoming, the quality and length of the finish impress. A vibrant mineral finish surrounded by an impressive weight of fruit. Drink from 2030-2037. VM 93-95 (3/2025): The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is surprisingly reserved on the nose despite aeration, with crushed stone, sea cave and light nettle aromas. The palate is where the action is: very well balanced, harmonious and poised, gaining weight towards a mineral-driven finish that delivers the complexity you'd expect from a Grand Cru. Superb. (Drink between 2028-2048). Neal Martin. BH 93 (6/2025): Here too there is a touch of phenolic character lurking in the background of the aromas of mineral reduction, Granny Smith apple and a range of spice and floral wisps. There is excellent volume and solid mid-palate density to the overtly stony larger-scaled flavors that display focused power on the balanced, compact and impressively persistent finish. All this beauty needs is 8 to 10 years in a cool cellar. (Drink starting 2031). |

Meursault Clos du Cromin ex-Domaine |
$73.99 |

|
| |
JM 91 (12/2024): In bottle. A light lime touch to the pale lemon yellow colour. There is a chiselled note to the wine despite the opulence, quite rich whiter fruit on the palate yet still with the backbone of mineral acidity. Grapey finish. Drink from 2027-2030. BH 89 (6/2025): Here too there is plenty of petrol character present on the ripe aromas of white peach, pear, floral and soft spice wisps. The generously proportioned and intense flavors possess a succulent mouthfeel as well as good delineation on the balanced bitter zest-inflected finale. Clos du Cromin is a wine that typically ages deceptively well yet it drinks well young too. (Drink starting 2028). VM 88 (3/2025): The 2023 Meursault Clos du Cromin has an elegant nose with yellow plum, clementine and light wild honey scents. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight, quite a thick-textured Clos du Cromin with a touch of lemongrass on the finish. This is probably one I would choose for early drinking. (Drink between 2026-2033). Neal Martin. |

| |
JM 91 (12/2024): In bottle. An attractive mid lemon yellow. Not as immediately forthcoming as Les Tillets, though still showing a compact white orchard fruit. Fresh apples, quite intense. With a certain crunchiness. Laid back but with plenty in reserve. Drink from 2028-2032. BH 91 (6/2025): There is a touch of phenolic character (think olive oil nuances) to the similarly airy and ripe aromas of white peach, the essence of pear and a whiff of exotic tea. The sleek, detailed and bigger-bodied flavors possess good power, if less finesse, while delivering even better depth on the sappy, balanced and built-to-age finale. This is an excellent Meursault villages and worth your interest. (Drink starting 2030). VM 88 (3/2025): The 2023 Meursault Les Clousots has a backward nose of crushed stone and shucked oyster shells, perhaps in need of a little more vigour. The palate is fresh on the entry with apricot and a touch of peach skin on the front palate, though it just drifts a bit towards the finish. At the moment, I actually err towards the Cuvée Oligocène. (Drink between 2026-2034). Neal Martin. |

$73.99 |

|
| |
JM 92 (12/2024): Mid lemon yellow, with a most attractive ripe fruit nose, still with its characteristic hint of lime blossom. Splendid energy on the palate, with a hillside thread providing limestone clarity, and just a little fresh pepper at the finish. In bottle. Drink from 2027-2031. VM 91 (3/2025): The 2023 Meursault Les Tillets has a stonier, more reserved bouquet than the Clos du Cromin, with light petrichor and beeswax scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a keen thread of acidity, more linear yet more energetic than other cuvées. This is very promising. (Drink between 2026-2038). Neal Martin. BH 90 (6/2025): An airy, ripe and elegant combination of spice, white flower, exotic tea and petrol precede overtly stony, detailed and highly refined middle weight flavors that display fine length on the impeccably well-balanced finale. This is textbook Tillets, which is to say a wine of finesse that could be enjoyed young or with 6 to 9 years of keeping. Recommended as well. (Drink starting 2029). |

Meursault Tete de Murgers ex-Domaine |
$109.99 |
60 |
|
| |
BH 92 (6/2025): A cooler and much more restrained nose features notes of citrus, a lovely range of floral elements and exotic spice hints of anise and clove. The super-sleek and more mineral-driven flavors aren't quite as powerful or rich but they are undeniably finer with excellent length on the equally well-balanced finale. This is terrific for its level and highly recommended. (Drink starting 2030). JM 92-93 (12/2024): Not yet in bottle. This is significantly more backward. The nose in particular. But then this blend of Casse Tete and Murger de Monthelie is always the most profound. It shows in the density of ripe orchard fruit on the palate, and the energy of the fruit at the finish. The vin de garde among the Meursaults. Drink from 2029-2035. VM 90 (3/2025): The 2023 Meursault Cuvée Tête de Murger has a slight reduction on the nose, more marine-influenced than other cuvées though the Tillets has a bit more panache. The palate is well balanced with clementine and pithy pear, as touches of white pepper and lemongrass emerge towards the finish. This just needs a little more sustain, but otherwise this will do nicely. (Drink between 2026-2036). Neal Martin. |

Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu Ex-Domaine |
$49.95 |
60 |
|
| |
VM 91 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a well-focused, quite animated bouquet that unfolds in the glass with touches of orchard fruit and grassy meadow. The palate is balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is lightly spiced but just needs a little more tension on the finish. Overall, it's a very well-made Mont de Milieu that should age nicely in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin. BH 88-90 (10/2024): (from a parcel of .26 ha). A funky nose of leesy reduction and lactic character. By contrast there is good freshness to the rich, generously proportioned and succulent medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a delicious if somewhat short finish. This should improve once it’s racked but it’s awkward today. Drink 2027+ |

Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey Ex-Domaine |
$46.99 |

|
| |
VM 90 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru, aged 50% in used oak, has a light, fresh apple blossom- and pear-scented nose with hints of pressed white flowers. The palate is well balanced with slightly honeyed citrus fruit and modest weight, though it needs more Neal Martin. BH 89-91 (10/2024): (from a 3.52 ha parcel aged in 30% wood). A fresh, ripe and expressive nose reflects good Chablis typicity that includes quinine, sea breeze, lemon rind and cool white fleshed fruit. There is fine density to the delicious, intense and solidly voluminous flavors that offer better depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Drink 2028+ |

Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos Ex-Domaine |
$86.99 |
60 |
|
| |
BH 90-92 (10/2024): (from a .53 ha parcel planted in 1962 and matured in one third older oak and two-thirds stainless). A cool, pure and airy nose features ripe notes of white flowers, pear, oyster shell, quinine along with a moderate application of wood. The juicy and fleshy medium-bodied flavors are more concentrated with good minerality and power on the sneaky long finish where a touch of bitter lemon appears. This too needs more depth though the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur if given time. Drink from 2029. VM 90+ (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a competent nose with decent fruit intensity, though it is not the most complex Les Clos that I encountered during my tastings. The palate is much better, with a peachy opening and fine depth. This leans perhaps a little too far to the tropical side of the fruit spectrum on the finish. Then again, it does uphold tension and feels long. Give this a couple of years and keep your fingers crossed that the aromatics up their game. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. Neal Martin. |

Chablis Grand Cru Valmur Ex-Domaine |
$89.95 |

|
| |
| VM 92 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru, vinified in oak barrels with seven months in vat, has a light bouquet with beeswax and cooked apple scents that are quite strict and laconic at the moment. The palate demonstrates ample concentration with a countervailing line of acidity. It's lightly spiced with orange rind and stem ginger. This builds gently toward a very cohesive finish that suggests it will benefit from two or three years in bottle. The 2023 has good potential. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin. |

Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir Ex-Domaine |
$89.95 |
55 |
|
| |
VM 93 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a composed, delineated bouquet that opens with confidence in the glass, revealing white fruit and crushed stone aromas. It becomes quite malic after three or four minutes. The palate is balanced with a smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel, but not petrolly in any way. It has impressive depth and tension with a twist of orange rind and lemongrass on the finish. This is an involving Vaudésir that should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin. BH 90-92 (10/2024): (from a .77 ha parcel planted in 1967 and 1987 and matured in 50% 1 to 5-year-old oak and 50% stainless). Moderate but not intrusive wood sets off aromas of both white and yellow peach, lychee, citrus confit and an array of spice nuances while offering just enough Chablis elements to be interesting. The succulent and more concentrated medium-bodied flavors exude more evident minerality on the refined, balanced and lingering finish that, once again, definitely could use better depth. | |
VM 88 (3/2025): The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté, which had been bottled, offers lilting citrus peel and clementine scents on the nose that just need a little coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced with an underlying sapidity, slightly viscous in texture with veins of lemongrass towards the persistent finish. This is a fine upstanding Aligoté from Anne Morey. (Drink between 2025-2030). BH 87 (6/2025): A textbook aligoté nose is comprised by notes of various citrus elements, spice and ripe green apple. The seductive, even suave, middle weight flavors possess excellent punch as well as an almost pungent minerality that seems to build on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and borderline rustic and tannic finale. This is an old school effort that will need a year or two of keeping first. A quality aligoté. (Drink starting 2027). |

VM 91-93 (1/2025): The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has a little more phenolics on the nose compared to the Les Masures, with just a hint of peach skin in the background behind the more malic scents. The palate is well balanced with a fresh citric line of acidity, and a dab of sour lemon decorates the finish. Hardcore…in a good way. (Drink between 2026-2042). Neal Martin. WA 91-93 (1/2025): Pillot always seems to achieve good cut and tension in this climat, and his 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain is once again very nicely proportioned, opening in the glass with notes of peach, minty pear and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, taut and chalky palate. BH 89-91 (6/2025): An admirably discreet application of wood frames slightly riper aromas of poached pear, apple compote and elegant floral nuances. The round, delicious and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture while delivering good if not special depth and persistence on the very dry but not especially austere finale. This is solid but perhaps not at its usual level of excellence. (Drink starting 2029). |

BH 86-88 (6/2025): Fresh and bright aromas include those of pear and apple compote, citrus rind and a hint of spice. There is equally good verve to the delicious and acceptably dense flavors that possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts mildly with the youthfully austere and balanced finale. This could use better depth so a year, or perhaps two, of cellaring should help. (Drink starting 2026). JM 86-87 (10/2024): A fine red to crimson colour, with an agreeable immediate red fruit nose, no great concentration but nicely made. Perfumed with some cherries, a slight hardness at the finish still needing time to soften – recently racked – and good ac |

JM 90-92 (10/2024): Mid lemon yellow. A little reductive gunflint on the nose, not excessive. The stones show through the riper fruit on the nose, with good weight of white orchard fruit on the palate, the finish shows the class of Terres Blanches as a white wine terroir, extending nobly to the back. DIAM Drink from 2027-2032. BH 90-92 (6/2025): (90% chardonnay and the remainder is pinot blanc.) Subtle though by no means imperceptible wood is present on the cooler aromas of Granny Smith apples, lemongrass and ample petrol nuances. Here too there is a lovely vibrancy to the delicious, if not particularly dense, middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the clean, bone-dry and youthfully austere finale that is also well-balanced. This well-made effort is going to need at least a few years of keeping to unwind. Worth considering, especially if you enjoy Nuits whites. Drink 2029+. VM 88-90 (1/2025): The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Terres Blanches has a crisp and lively bouquet with more vigor than the Bourgogne Chardonnay: Conference pears and dew-speckled green apples. The palate opens fresh and vibrant, a little peachy on the entry but with racy acidity to counterbalance. Maybe it cuts away a little too swiftly on the finish, but otherwise this is a fine Pinot Blanc/Chardonnay combo to enjoy over the next five or six years. (Drink between 2025-2032). Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (11/2024): It's always hard to choose between this bottling and La Roche, and as usual, the 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Combes Vieilles Vignes is a touch richer and broader out of the gates. Picked in three separate harvests (collecting only the ripest grapes on each passage), the Verget team pulled out all the stops to craft a medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny wine that's seamless and complete, evoking aromas of pear, honeycomb, white flowers and toasted nuts. VM 92 (8/2025): The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Combes Vieilles Vignes comes from the village of Pouilly and was picked three times. This is all about precision on the nose, not powerful yet precise, with touches of limestone percolating through the citrus fruit. Hints of white flower emerge with aeration. The palate is well balanced with ample weight and depth. It's grippy and almost Chassagne-like, with a very persistent finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2026-2038). Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip. BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |
