JD 94 (12/2022): A quintessential Cornas that shows both the wild, feral character of the appellation as well as the elegance this estate always seems to achieve, the 2019 Cornas Chaillot offers a deep purple hue to go with a great nose of cassis and darker cherry fruits, violets, smoked game, and scorched earth. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has wonderful purity of fruit, building tannins, and a great finish. It's certainly more approachable than the Reynard yet still needs 4-5 years of bottle age. It's a beautiful Cornas that will have two decades of longevity. (Drink between 2022-2042). |

| JD 91 (2/2010): The 2006 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot is missing the elegance and detail of the ’06 Reynard and is more meaty, rich and rustic. On the nose, the wine displays plenty of ripe, licorice infused dark fruit, saddle leather and garrigue aromas. These carry over onto the full bodied palate marked by a fat, mouth filling texture as well as ripe, rustic tannins on the finish. While I didn’t taste the ’99 Chaillot on release, I struggle to think this could ever match that wine with it too is at age 10. I’d opt for drink these over the next 8 to 10 years. |

JD 94 (2/2022): Looking first at the 2018 Cornas Chaillot, this beauty offers up a supple, medium to full-bodied, impeccably balanced style as well as lively red and black fruits supported by notes of leather, pepper, and violets. This is the younger vine cuvée of the estate and comes from vines averaging upwards of 40 years in age. Not destemmed, it’s vinified in a mix of tank and open top wooden vats and is aged in older barrels. It’s a beautiful, elegant, seamless Cornas that shows the hallmark elegance of this estate. |

JD 95 (1/2018): The 2014 Cornas Reynard is similar to its younger brother, yet offers more richness, depth and minerality. Black raspberries, black cherries, pepper, crushed rocks, tapenade and smoked meat nuances all flow to a concentrated 2014 that shows the more mid-weight, elegant, yet vibrant style of the vintage. It's far from unapproachable now, yet should be at its best from 2020 to 2030. These wines are always hard to come by as Allemand refuses visits from critics (at least I’ve never had an email or call returned). Nevertheless, I purchased these from Le Mangevins (don’t miss a chance to eat here!) in Tain l’Hermitage and they’re brilliant wines. (Drink between 2020-2030.)

JD 94 (7/2024): While a bottle of the 2021 Hermitage was slightly off during my tasting with Liz, I pulled a bottle from my cellar for the report. Showing consistently from when I tasted it on release at the estate, the 2021 is a classy Hermitage that's as good as anything in the vintage, offering solid ripeness in its red and black fruits as well as peppery herb, sappy flower, leather, and gamey aromas and flavors. Cut from the same cloth as the 2014, it's medium-bodied, has a soft, supple mouthfeel, moderate tannins, and beautiful overall balance. JD 94 (7/2024): While a bottle of the 2021 Hermitage was slightly off during my tasting with Liz, I pulled a bottle from my cellar for the report. Showing consistently from when I tasted it on release at the estate, the 2021 is a classy Hermitage that's as good as anything in the vintage, offering solid ripeness in its red and black fruits as well as peppery herb, sappy flower, leather, and gamey aromas and flavors. Cut from the same cloth as the 2014, it's medium-bodied, has a soft, supple mouthfeel, moderate tannins, and beautiful overall balance. | JD 93-95 (11/2022): While production was down 40% due to the frost, Vincent was able to make a beautiful 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape that readers will love to have in the cellar. All about finesse and elegance, it reveals a classic Clos des Papes nose of both red and black fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy notes. These carry to a medium-bodied 2021 that has good ripeness (the alcohol is 15%), a supple, silky mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's not far off the style of the 2020, and while it doesn't have the density of a top vintage, it nevertheless has balance, complexity, and elegance, and will have 15+ years of longevity. |

This gorgeous wine is a clear success, offering complex black raspberry, iron, bacon fat, violets, and lavender-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, concentrated, layered, and elegant, it’s an incredibly classy Côte Rôtie.
VM 92 (1/2025): Taut and peppery, the 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche / La Péroline shows well. Stemminess, graphite, rose petal and a zesty slice of grapefruit add more complexity in the glass. Built around ripe and firm tannins, the medium-bodied 2021 dances on the palate with lifting freshness and ample delicacy. There’s a lovely cool vintage austerity going on here. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip.
BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |
