| VM 95 (3/2016): Saturated ruby. Candied black and blue fruits, potpourri, cola and smoky minerals on the explosively perfumed, sharply focused nose. Stains the palate with intense, deeply concentrated blackberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors, gaining weight and spiciness with aeration. Rich but energetic and graceful as well, finishing with superb clarity, power and mineral-driven persistence. This wine is destined for a very long, slow and positive evolution. Josh Raynolds. |

| WA 92 (12/2015): A step up over the Côte Blonde release, the 2013 Côte Rôtie Cote Brune was similarly not destemmed and saw 5% Viognier in the blend. Aged 30 months in 600-liter, two- to five-year-old barrels, it has gorgeous minerality in its dark fruits, smoked herbs, wild herbs and olive tapenade bouquet. This carries to a medium plus-bodied Côte Rôtie that has a killer mid-palate, a beautiful texture and sweet tannin that frame the finish. Drink this high class Côte Rôtie anytime over the coming 10-15 years. |

| VM 92 (3/2016): Brilliant ruby. Sexy, mineral-accented dark berry and floral pastille scents show excellent clarity and hints of olive and cola. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering juicy black and blue fruit flavors and zesty cracked pepper and allspice nuances. Shows an impressive blend of power and finesse on a very long, youthfully tannic finish that leaves a lively blueberry note behind. Josh Raynolds. |

WS 96 (7/2016): Dark and brooding, this has a deep well of black currant, fig and bitter plum fruit in reserve, shrouded for now in smoldering charcoal, bay leaf and alder notes. Tapenade and tar details hang in the background. Offers a steel beam of a finish. Tuck this away in the back corner of your cellar. Best from 2020 through 2035. 1,438 cases made. WA 95 (12/2015): Probably the wine of the vintage is Clape’s 2013 Cornas. Coming from some of the prime terroirs in this incredible appellation, it’s always 100% Syrah (Cornas is always 100% Syrah) that saw no destemming and spent 22 months in mostly ancient foudre. This wine offers up classic Clape notes of beef blood, cold steel, liquid rock, pepper and saddle leather (there’s fruit in there as well) to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, rich, textured 2013 that has an awesome mid-palate, ripe tannin and clean, lengthy finish. It won’t be as long lived as some of the more blockbuster-styled years, but it will dish out incredible pleasure over the coming 10-15 years. JLL ****[*] (5/2016): Bright, shiny black and purple robe. The bouquet has a good oily quality, gives a well-ripened blackberry and black cherry, a touch of acetate with violets, blueberry, licorice. It is going to be a big do in time. The palate springs out well, has a second half that carries cool tannins, and a firm grip on its rocky close, a mineral gasp there. It is tight as a drum on the palate. This is hard core Cornas thanks to much intervention from the granite slopes, a full-on STGT wine. It ends in honourable fashion, with concentrated juice and tannins that carry florality. From 2024. VM 95 (3/2016): Glass-staining ruby. Spicy, highly perfumed cassis, boysenberry, incense, smoky bacon and mineral scents show excellent clarity. Densely packed, fresh and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated flavors of fresh black and blue fruits and floral pastilles. Shows an alluring sweetness on the extremely persistent finish, which features harmonious tannins and a strong echo of smoky minerality. Josh Raynolds. |

| VM 91 (4/2016): Opaque ruby. Smoky, perfumed scents of fresh dark berries, violet and allspice are joined by a lively mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering energetic black and blue fruit flavors and a deeper licorice nuance that gains power with air. A peppery quality adds spiciness to the long, focused finish, which is shaped by supple, harmonious tannins. Josh Raynolds. |

JD 98+ (1/2018): The gem of the lineup (and my money is on the wine of the vintage), the 2013 Côte Rôtie La Landonne sports a deep purple color and killer notes of blackcurrants, black olives, game, and spice. It picks up more minerality with time in the glass and offers a full-bodied, powerful, concentrated style on the palate. With awesome tannin quality (but lots of them) and integrated, yet high acidity, forget bottles for 7-8 years. It should keep for 2-3 decades. WS 98 (9/2017): A thunderhead of dark ganache and espresso notes slowly rolls through, while fig paste, melted licorice, warm plum and blackberry compote flavors follow. A massive beam of graphite drives the finish to a crescendo, with the fruit echoing. Best from 2022 through 2050. 63 cases imported. VM 96 (7/2017): Bright purple. Explosive aromas of ripe dark berries, licorice, incense, vanilla and Indian spices, joined by a smoky nuance as the wine opens up. Deeply concentrated yet impressively lively and precise on the palate, offering intense, finely etched black and blue fruit, cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavors complemented by hints of olive paste and star anise. Smoothly blends richness and finesse, offering wonderful clarity and no rough edges. Shows superb energy and thrust on the dark-fruit-dominated finish, which features building tannins that add shape and closing grip. WA 95+ (12/2017): La Landonne is never destemmed and is always the last of the single-vineyard wines to be picked. Philippe Guigal calls it “the most Pauillac of the Cote Roties,” and the 2013 Cote Rotie La Landonne bears that out. It’s slightly austere and firmly tannic, with attractive floral aromas and layers of dark fruit that will require time to fully emerge. |

VM 96 (7/2017): (made with 50 percent whole clusters) Bright purple. A complex, intensely perfumed bouquet of fresh black and blue fruit, candied licorice and Asian spice scents develops a sexy floral note as the wine opens up. Vibrant and appealingly sweet on the palate, offering intense, smoke-tinged black currant, boysenberry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors energized by a refreshing snap of juicy acidity. Blends richness and vivacity with a deft hand and finishes extremely long and gently tannic, leaving a sappy blue fruit note behind. Josh Raynolds. WS 96 (9/2017): Very ripe, with layers of fig, boysenberry and plum compote forming the core, inlaid liberally with licorice snap, roasted apple wood and Turkish coffee notes. Shows lots of heft, but everything pulls together on the finish, exhibiting drive and definition. Best from 2020 through 2040. 65 cases imported. JD 94+ (1/2018): One of the more restrained and fresh vintages of this cuvee out there, the 2013 Côte Rôtie La Mouline still has a classic Mouline floral, gamey, and spicy bouquet to go with medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. With good concentration, notable complexity, sweet tannin, and plenty of length, it needs 3-4 years of bottle age and will keep for 15+. WA 94 (12/2017): The 2013 Cote Rotie La Mouline shows none of the vintage’s sometimes dry tannins. It offers crisp black fruit—plums and blackberries—underscored by hints of pencil shavings, espresso and grilled meat. Suave and long, it should drink well for a couple of decades. |

WA 98 (9/2017): A stunning, modern-styled version, with scintillating raspberry puree, plum confiture and blackberry reduction flavors gliding over velvety but copious tannins. Alluring warm ganache and fruitcake accents gild the finish, which sails on and on. Best from 2020 through 2045. 67 cases imported. JD 95 (1/2018): A step up over the La Mouline, the 2013 Côte Rôtie La Turque is concentrated, full-bodied, and structured, with lots of minerality, chocolate, and pepper nuances in its darker berry fruits, cassis and bacon fat aromas and flavors. With a great mid-palate, building tannin, and the more tight, austere style of the vintage, give bottles another 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades. VM 95 (7/2017): (made with 50 percent whole clusters) Inky ruby. Bright, intensely perfumed aromas of red and blue fruits, Indian spices and potpourri are energized by a smoky mineral quality. Juicy, focused and pure, displaying deeply concentrated but lively boysenberry and cherry liqueur flavors, along with hints of candied flowers and five-spice powder. Echoes the floral and spicy notes on the strikingly long, penetrating finish, which features harmonious tannins and a hint of bitter chocolate. Josh Raynolds. WA 94 (12/2017): The 2013 Cote Rotie La Turque is a bit firm, austere and cool. It’s medium-bodied and tannic, with some drying notes on the finish that suggest further cellaring is warranted. Yes, it shows ample concentration and complex notes of plums and raspberries, but patience will be required. |

| JD 95 (3/2019): I think a small step up in quality over the 2014, the 2013 La Chapelle is nevertheless made in a very different style, showing a more firm, focused style. Giving up beautiful purity in its black raspberry, blackcurrants, crushed rocks, ground pepper, and spice-driven aromatics, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, integrated acidity, and building tannins that nevertheless stay integrated and polished.
