BH 93 (6/2020): Naturally exotic and overtly spicy aromas include whiffs of jasmine tea, lemongrass and apple compote. The wonderfully refined and subtly stony middle weight flavors are at once intense yet delicate, all wrapped in a Zen-like finish. This is really lovely stuff and so well-balanced it should age effortlessly. Drink 2028+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, peach, spring blossom, honeycomb and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated palate that's chalky and structured, built around lively acids and appreciable dry extract. |

BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |

WA 94 (1/2020): Boillot's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles reveals aromas of orange oil, white flowers and peaches, complemented by classy top notes of nutmeg and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with quite a tensile, tight-knit core for this typically enveloping premier cru. But looking back through my notes, that often seems to be the case chez Boillot. BH 92 (6/2020): Here too there is a touch of residual SO2 that may require decanting so that the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia, lilac and poached pear aromas can be appreciated. There is a bit more volume if not quite the same minerality and precision to the beautifully textured flavors that are quite seductive before concluding in a delicious if mildly sweet and warm finish. This is lovely but doesn't possess the class and distinction of the Perrières or Clos de la Mouchère. Drink 2026+. Outstanding! |

BH 93 (6/2020): Once again there is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit to the white peach, spiced tea and dried yellow fruit aromas where a background hint of viognier creeps in. The caressing and unusually sleek medium-bodied flavors possess fine volume and focused power on the caressing and refreshingly saline-inflected finish. This is particularly good in the context of a very hot and dry vintage which is not usually especially propitious for Criots. Drink 2028+. WA 94 (1/2020): Aromas of orange oil, honeycomb, ripe pears, wheat toast and paraffin wax introduce the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and textural wine that's fleshy and enveloping but underpinned by an impressively chalky structure that brings unusual tension and grip to this inherently generous terroir. |

| BH 86-88 (6/2020): A more elegant though less complex nose is composed by notes of green apple and citrus rind. There is fine detail and verve to the lighter weight flavors that possess an attractive texture on the somewhat one-dimensional finish. This is perfectly good, but the young vines show. (Drink starting 2022). |

| BH 95-97 (1/2020): The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru has a wonderful, engaging bouquet with yellow flowers, jasmine and flinty aromas; subtle praline aromas surface with aeration. You could nose this all day! The well-balanced palate displays fine poise and focus, offering veins of white peach intermixed with white chocolate and almond before the citrus core takes hold of the steering wheel on the finish. This is a multifaceted Chevalier-Montrachet that should give many years of drinking pleasure. Six barrels produced. Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip. BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 93 (10/2020): Like the Montée de Tonnerre this is overtly floral in character on the lightly spiced nose that displays additional aromas of mineral reduction, iodine, lemon peel and pear. There is a really lovely sense of verve suffusing the powerful yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that culminate in an almost chewy bone-dry finish thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract. This muscular effort isn't as refined as the Montée de Tonnerre but it's just as complex and persistent. Drink 2030+. |

| BH 93 (6/2020): ( from a .33 ha parcel in Les Languettes.) A much more restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of exceptionally floral-infused aromas that include those of acacia, lilac and rose petal along with hints of Granny Smith apples and lemongrass. There is outstanding volume and power to the relatively refined larger-scaled flavors that are much, much more mineral-driven on the youthfully austere, serious and compact finish. This beauty will need at least a few years of keeping first and should amply reward 10 to 12. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 93 (10/2020): Once again, the nose is both fresh and ripe and while it's not quite as elegant and airy as the Côte Bouguerots there is every bit as much classic Chablis character. There is a really lovely mouthfeel to the sappy large-bodied flavors thanks to the copious quantity of dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine on the powerful, punchy and intensely saline-inflected finale. While there is a hint of backend warmth, this beautiful effort should age well while adding depth along the way. |

WA 94 (7/2020): Pretty and demonstrative, among Fèvre's grand cru bottlings, the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir is second only to the Bougros in expressiveness. Bursting with aromas of pear, white flowers, orange oil and citrus blossom, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a bright core of fruit and a precise, mineral finish. BH 93 (10/2020): An exuberantly fresh and cool and mildly exotic nose offers up unmistakable Chablis character that includes sea breeze, iodine and oyster shell along with an abundance of citrus elements. There is equally good freshness and verve to the utterly delicious, crisp and delineated medium-bodied flavors that possess fine persistence and a lovely minerality on the notably dry but not austere finale. This almost delicate effort isn't especially dense but it's awfully pretty. (Drink starting 2028). VM 93 (9/2020): The 2018 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has an open, slightly menthol-tinged bouquet that is quite seductive; subtle orange pith and peachy aromas develop with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with more overt tropical notes compared to the more sophisticated Bougros, but you cannot fail to enjoy the ginger and lemongrass tang on the finish. A lovely Vaudésir that should age well over the next 10–12 years. (Drink between 2022-2038). Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (2/2020): Dramatic and expressive, the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru exhibits aromas of orange rind, peach, honeyed pears and marzipan. Full-bodied, supple and textural, it's an enveloping but youthfully structured wine that will reward at least a couple of years of bottle age. Céline Gagnard told me that this site handled the hot conditions well. BH 92? (6/2020): This rachets up the ripeness level even more with its overtly exotic aromas of apricot, peach, tangerine and mango along with a curious hint of caramel. The big-bodied and serious flavors possess a luscious mid-palate though there is plenty of power to the sappy finish that is borderline flat. As the description suggests, this is somewhat awkward and diffuse. It may well recover but it's not clear that this is going to be at its usual excellent level. VM 91+ (11/2022): The 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has an open, tropical-tinged bouquet that is quite seductive with all those passion fruit and pineapple scents, but it does not convey a sense of mineralité. It actually becomes more reductive when returning to my glass after 10 minutes. The palate is balanced with a slightly spiced opening, oily in texture (botrytis?) with plenty of extract. Rather dense and muscular towards the finish. Give this two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Neal Martin. |

WS 95 (5/2021): Butterscotch, almond, pear, lemon and spice aromas and flavors mark this dense, tightly wound white. It's balanced, expressing a mineral note on the long, bracing finish. Best from 2024 through 2035. 144 cases made, 15 cases imported. BH 92 (6/2020): ( from Pernand fruit.) Cool and restrained aromas are comprised by aromas of green apple, mineral reduction, airy floral and an interesting hint of tangerine peel. There is both good volume and intensity to the beautifully delineated and overtly mineral-driven flavors that possess riper acidity on the balanced citrus-tinged finale. This needs to develop more depth but the potential aging curve is such that it should develop in time. Drink 2028+. |

WA 90-92 (2/2020): Mingling aromas of pear and orange oil with hints of pastry cream and citrus blossom in an expressive bouquet, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain is medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with an elegantly perfumed, mineral finish. BH 89-91 (6/2020): An overtly floral-suffused nose offers up ripe aromas of poached pear, citrus rind and a hint of crushed rosemary. The richer but not necessarily denser middle weight flavors also possess a relatively refined mouthfeel before culminating in a saline, balanced and focused finale. This lilting effort will need to add a bit more depth to merit the upper end of my projected range. (Drink starting 2024). |

| BH 91 (6/2021): A mild touch of reduction is sufficiently subtle to permit the notes of white flowers, citrus rind and discreet wood to be discerned. There is an attractive sense of underlying tension to the delicious medium weight flavors that possess focused power and good delineation on the lingering finish that flirts with rusticity. This well-made effort needs to develop more depth but it appears to have the requisite density to do so. (Drink starting 2028). |

Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre Heavily Torn Label |

BH 95 (10/2020): This is perhaps the most elegant and floral-infused wine in the range with its array of various white flower scents, especially acacia that are nuanced by wisps of ocean breeze, iodine and algae. The restrained and well-detailed flavors possess a sophisticated and refined mouthfeel while the stony and chiseled finish exhibiting excellent persistence on the bone-dry finish. This is class in a glass and a stunning rendition of the appellation though note well that at least moderate patience is strongly advised. (Drink starting 2030). VM 91 (9/2020): The 2018 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a touch more tropical fruit on the nose compared to the Les Butteaux, offering faint passion fruit, white peach and apricot scents with aeration. Lovely definition. The palate is well balanced with a slight waxiness on the entry, and a little pithy in style. Hints of yellow plum and spices emerge toward a finish that develops an appealing creamy texture with time. Excellent. But personally I prefer the nervosité of the Butteaux. (Drink between 2021-2032). WA 92 (8/2021): The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is performing well in bottle, mingling notes of crisp green apple and honeycomb with hints of oyster shell, orange oil and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, its ample core of fruit is girdled by bright acids, before concluding with a saline finish. |

WA 90 (6/2020): Offering up aromas of ripe pears, peach, fresh pastry and mandarin, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos Sur la Roche is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with an expansive attack and a round, open-knit profile. Fleshy and charming, it will drink well young. BH 89 (10/2021): As it usually is this is overtly marked by prominent, and very pretty floral elements that combine with notes of citrus and various white orchard fruit aromas that include a whiff of honeysuckle. There is acceptable mid-palate density to the reasonably well-delineated broad-shouldered flavors that conclude in a dry, lemony and lingering if somewhat warm finish. This is certainly pretty but the balance isn't quite perfect. (Drink starting 2024). |

WA 91 (6/2020): Revealing notions of buttered orchard fruit, peach and citrus oil, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs is medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy, with bright acids and a charmingly textural profile. This has turned out very nicely, even if it can't match the depth and structure of the 2017. BH 89 (10/2021): A decidedly ripe yet nicely fresh mélange is comprised by notes of passion fruit, pear and citrus peel. There is reasonably good concentration and power to the medium weight flavors that possess a discreet minerality on the sneaky long if noticeably warm finish. This is definitely a creature of its vintage and while I like the nose, the warmth is enough to detract from the overall sense of balance. (Drink starting 2024). |
